Together with my Canon 400L mm 2.8 IS USM and my Wimberley head on top of my Gitzo GT5531S this long spikes is fenomenal. Without spikes, or with shorter spikes it is good, but now I have a unit that is very very stable. Do not hesitate to buy the long spikes if you need to squeeze the maximum permormance out of your equipment.
