The Comprehensive VP-242 is a 2x1 XGA switcher with 1x4 distribution amplifier capabilities; it features level and EQ controls in a compact design. This device was made to work in presentation applications where two sources need to be routed to four displays.
- Switcher
- In it's normal state this unit is a 2x1 XGA switcher; it has the ability to switch between two computer generated sources.
- Distribution Amplifier
- Along with being a two input switcher the VP-242 features four identical outputs allowing it to act as a XGA distribution amplifier.
- Control
- Level and EQ controls are offered to adjust the outputs to correct parameters for long cable runs.
- Compact Size
- Measuring less than 8 inches wide, this unit will fit on desktops and small studio spaces.

This is an easy to use and helpful tool.
I use the XGA Switcher to run a conference for college students. I can easily plug upto two inputs (usually computers) and have 4 outputs which for me are usually two screens, a stage monitor, and a AV table monitor.
When you switch inputs (live) you get a brief loss of signal and I usually get a brief flash of the projector logo before it switches to the new input.
I appreciate the The DA lavel button to boost the signal especially when the projectors are not too bright or images are dark.

I have used the item one time so far. It does good. I had one proj. that would show half screen. I would un plug it from the unit and it would come back to full screen. other that that it is good.

Used in a house of worship application, this functional distribution amp allows manual A-B XGA input switching while providing video output for up to four monitors. It worked well right out of the box to distribute video signal to a pair of flat screen LCD TV's for a scrolling PowerPoint. In the future I plan to use it as an A-B selector between two computers for staff & community meetings where multiple presenters access the same projector or monitor. A nice tool to have in the arsenal for about the same price as a regular single input XGA distribution amp. Nicely done, Kramer!
