I use these cases, lined with foam, to hold professional video cameras. They are weather-proof, have wheels for easy transportation, excellent protection for equipment, and last well.

This case is small enough to haul through airports, etc., yet holds a decent amount of equipment. This case is used in conjunction with a 1510 padded case for non-critical equipment. Only had it a short time but have used it on several overseas trips with no problems.

I've seen this product used for Military, Fire, Police, & Coast Guard, that's why we picked it. They're a tough, pressure sealed, waterproof, no nonsense form factor that can hold anything. We use it to house portable alternate energy generators & equipment. You can lock it with a padlock (two locks if you're really into locking stuff up). It comes in different colors (good for classification purposes but we use black as default). They can seem a little pricey at first but when you see the quality of these you'll know you're getting your monies worth.

Comments about Pelican 1510NF Carry On Case without Foam (Black):
I was looking for carry on DSLR case; which would be weather sealed; as I live in India, I was more concerned about this function; I went through exhaustive research in the net, in B&H website; read lots of reviews; Ultimately, I fixed up mind onto 1510; I was not sure about how big it would be as carry on case.... but believe me, I am amazed by seeing its size and versatality. Very strong case; 100% carry on capability; peace of mind. I have been using Pelican 1600; 1550; 1610 cases .... 100% happy.
One thing you need to be sure that you will not use 1510 to cary professional video camera as the depth is not adequate ! ... for that I am buying Pelican 1564 .... doesn't matter if I have to check it in the airline. Overall, I am 200% happy about my purchase. Use this case with 1519 lid organizer ... the case will be PERFECT as carry on case.... 1519 is a MUST have accessory with 1510.

This product works perfectly on my motorcyle and also works well as a carry on piece of luggage. It is multi-functional, sturdy, looks good, and I know it will last a long time. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. I am considering buying a second one just to use strictly for traveling.

I received this case last week and agree with all the description provided by the company. It is very well made - really sturdy. One thing that also surprised me is how light it is. You would think something like this would be pretty heavy - no. I think it is the weight of a regular travel bag of the same size. So far, i am happy i made the investment. I think you should get an internal sleeve to hold small items like passport, alarm clock etc. The case is just what it is a case. Organizing stuff inside can be challenge without the supplemental sleeve.Great packaging and fast shipping from B&H. I ordered two of these. One from [@], and one from B&H. Actually, the order from [@] went in first. So, I still haven't received the order from [@].

Comments about Pelican 1510NF Carry On Case without Foam (Black):
I am a live sound and recording engineer. So, I am constantly in and out of venues, studios, trucks, vans and planes. I love this case. It hauls all my go-to gear with room to spare for the occasional few extra mics and accessories. It is truly bomb-proof. When the zombie apocalypse happens, Pelican cases may be the only survivors...
I bought it specifically because it is carry-on friendly for air travel. Pelican's renowned lifetime warranty is also a big selling point. I work in an industry where cases get constant use and abuse. I have gone through several bags and tool trunks that always fell short of being ideal. Then I saw one of these cases and was instantly sold. Another plus for me is the retractable handle length. I'm 6ft and most other cases I have had or tried had a short handle. Constantly hitting my heel while pulling a case is a deal breaker. This one is just right. It also rolls effortlessly on its casters. My only complaint would be weight, but I'm willing to trade a little bit of weight for the peace of mind of knowing that whatever is in this case is going to be safe and sound. I needed a case that could take anything thrown at it and when I get to my destination, my gear inside will be in perfect condition.
This was the perfect solution for me.

Only treason didn't get 5 stars is that the sliding handle is a bit on the wobbly side and feels like it's going to break... but it hasn't yet!

Comments about Pelican 1510NF Carry On Case without Foam (Black):
I use this as a suitcase, since I'm very allergic to dust, and need something to use for travel that will keep my cloths inside dust-free. The o-ring seal keeps the dust out. I can fit enough inside to travel for a week. So far, it has fit in all the airplanes I've been on as carry-on luggage.
It is heavy compared to a regular suitcase, so if that's an issue for you, it might not be a 5-star choice.

I use this for all my travel needs not just as a carry-on on flights but when ever I need to pack up few days away. Using this along with the Eagle Creek packing systems I fit more than enough clothes in here for a week away from home, and I can drop my laptop bag inside it and not have to worry about it getting broken even if I check the bag or jam it into the overhead compartment. It is baggage handler proof along with a couple of TSA locks and you have a worry free trip.

Comments about Pelican 1510NF Carry On Case without Foam (Black):
My new job made me a road warrior. My old travel luggage took a beating pretty quick. I was shopping for a quality travel luggage and found them to be quite expensive. Then I realized that the Pelican 1510NF is priced leass than most quality luggages. It is actually better because Pelican have a no question asked replacement policy. My understanding is that you can tell them you were playing with fire and accidentally burned your Pelican into a glob of plastic ... they will give you a new one.
This case fits into the overhead bin on Continental, Delta, and US Air planes. All bins required you to push/lift the case collapsed handle up to clear the bin door to latch, no big deal.
The case is indestructable. My job uses Pelican cases for shipping electronic lab equipments. After years of abuses from FedEx, UPS, and US Postal, the case is still secure. Lots of external scratches but no dents. One of 2 handles has broken off but Pelican will replace it. My new 1510 case is used for clothing. From the frequent traveling lately, I can assure that EVERY luggage that gets handling from baggage handlers had been tumbled and flipped and tossed and crached. You rely on the strength of the zipper. Maybe it was just me, all my packing is "over packed" and stressed out the zippers. That means once they fail, your stuff gets exploded out all over the place. The pelican is latched and secure, unless someone flips the latch on purpose. It cannot be flipped by accident.
Speaking of secure ..... The latches are tight and worry free. However, if someone flips them, the case pops open. You can put a small pad lock but it is inconvenient. Built in lock is better. But there is no built in lock. Eitherway, built in or not, if someone needs to open you case without your presence, you run the risk of it not being closed properly. Things caught between the top and bottom of the case halves will crush (like ear phone wires). Perhaps a semi-flexible "dam" extended up above the lower case lip so things don't get "spilled over" and get clamped.
The internal dimension is much smaller than the external dimension. I suppose the design can expand the internal to utilize more nooks and crannies outward and still maintain the external dimension to be FAA/TSA complient. Then, the case will not visually look as small. Visually, the case do look smaller, and it is smaller, than the actual FAA limit bags size. It is the external dimension that is compliant. Lots of external ribs and reenforcements on Pelican cases.
The case is just big enough for a one week trip. It allows me to "overpack" for a 7 day trip by sitting on the lid to get it to close, and I can still not worry about failing zippers. With a weeks worth of clothings, I can fits one pair of compressable sneakers. Try a pair of clunky shoes and you have eaten up all the space. So, I wear my steel toe boots (needed for some industrial sites) while travling and keep my dress shoes in the case.
The case have no internal or external pockets. I can live without them. They do sell an accessory pocket attachment to the inside of the lid. It has many pockets like the inside of a computer shoulder bag. It even have a pocket for a loptop. I have a separate shoulder computer bag so my Pelican case is strictly for clothings and toiletries. As mentiioned before, various spots of the case should be designed to "bumped out" to create a small space or a "pocket" for nic-nacks. Few nic-nacks do add up.
They also sell a case liner bag with a zipper. I actually find it less convenient than just dropping stuff into the case. One GOOD thing it does is it keeps stuff from getting clamped by the case halves.
I have to find a way to remove the 2 big "Pelican" stickers from the outside. I like a quiet subdued looking black case. It is bad enough a potential thief thinks you have a few thousand dollars worth of camera equipments. You don't need to draw attention to it. I do want to put special shaped/colored big stickers to the outside so I can easily spot the bad guy as he is running away with it. So, subdued or loud? MAybe I should have ordered a bright orange case.
The inside have 4 half inch diameter half in tall cylinders moulded to the inside of the lid. Not sure what they are for. I can see if I have something hard, they can crush it. I can cut them off with a hack saw blade .....
The case IS heavy. I have no tproblem so far traveling domestic flights. I've heard Asia and European flight have a weight limit. In that case, this case will eat up 2/3 (maybe exaggerating?) of the allowable weight. I'll have to go back to soft luggage then.
I am 5'10" tall and the handle is a bit on the short side for me. Once in a while, my heel gets caught by the case as I walk. So I grab the extended handle on the left side by my right hand so the case will roll along further out the right side of me to minimize any heel catch.

Comments about Pelican 1510NF Carry On Case without Foam (Black):
Used it on two one week business trip so far. The interior volume is just sufficient for a one week trip. I had to wear steel toe work boots for my customers industrial plant, so I wear them while traveling. I need to carry a pair of sneakers for after work hours. Squeezing the pair of sneakers into the week'ss worth of clothings crushes/wrinkles the clothings. I switched to a lighter/thiner pair of sneakers. In the end, if you need a second pair of casual shoes, find a compressible one to save space.
Watch to be sure your cloting don't end up on the edge of the case and gets clamp by the lip of the lid. I read someone had a USB cable crushed by it. If you have to have it waterproof, I guess it will not allow it to seal. A flexible but slightly stiff "dam" raised around the top edge of the bottom half would be nice to keep things from spilling over to the edge and get caught by the lid.
The case is pretty heavy. So far neither time had any complaints from the domestic flight people handling the case. I heard that European and Asian airlines are more picky about it.
Soft luggage interior space is only slightly less than exterior dimensions. The Pelican interior is a lot less than the exterior dimensions. That is the price you pay for a bomb proof case.
Airline luggage handlers REALLY toss them. Even boarding gate check luggage gets toss down a slide chute and often lands on the tarmac. That is why soft luggage don't last long for road warriors. After first 2 trips, I found lots of scratches and grind marks on the Pelican case.
From what I understand, Pelican will give you a new one if yours breaks in any way at all, your fault or not. I'll find out for sure one of these days.

Pelican cases aren't new to anyone who takes protecting their photo gear seriously. This nice thing about this case is that my Think Tank ultralight pack fits perfectly inside! It's airline carry-on size and offers options for securing my camera gear before, during and after I arrive at my destination. Thanks, Pelican, you've done it again!
