Comments about Matthews Mini Boom (45-80"):

I have a small studio area, so I need my equipment to be flexible. Compared to other lightweight stands, working with the Matthews gear might at first seem expensive. Then you mount your other expensive gear on this solid boom arm and you rest easy that it is going to stay where you put it, and not come crashing to the ground. The mini boom is very simple to adjust and gives a lot of flexibility for positioning and counterweighting.

Extremely strong boom bar; ROCK SOLID; the hook at the end is additional advantage for attaching counter-weight; the rubber handle at the end is very useful for the grip; The boom extends approx. 7 feet .. more than my purpose ... This boom is heavy. I need a Mathew C stand to use it.

Comments about Matthews Mini Boom (45-80"):

The second Matth Mini Boom I've owned, and like all Matthews products this is a solid well-built piece of gear. It also has the great improvement of cross-hatching on the 5/8 stud to minimize any rotation or slippage of whatever you're attaching to the end of it. Strong construction but small enough to be a part of anyone's location package.

Comments about Matthews Mini Boom (45-80"):

This is the best boom arm I have owned. In 1980's
I used a Bogen super Boom and replaced it with an
Avenger Boom in the 90's. This is superior to them
both.I use it on a Matthews C Stand and also on their rolling stand. It will support every light and modifier I have, including a large softbox. I aslo purchased an Avenger 15lb weight to balance the arm. With the weight in place and a 25lb sandbag on the stand this thing is a joy to use.
I find my self somtimes adjusting my lighting for
the pleasure of operating the boom. The adjustments are sooth as silk.

This is hard core studio equipment baby! None of the mamby pamby, sort of kind of, might be ok fluff that passes as "prosumer", this is the real deal! Made of steel, strong as an Ox and ready for anything you care to throw at it. The boom is adjustable in length, as well as the balance point. Includes a hook on the end for a counter-weight. I recommend you get a 10lb clamp-on weight from Manfrotto, but that is your choice. You will need some sort of counter-weight to balance the boom. A sturdy, wheeled light-stand is also a must. You can vary the length of the boom as well as the balance point with just a twist of a knob. A serious piece of kit for studio photographers.

Purchased this item to go along with my Avenger C-stand and Matthews Magic Stand. Clamps and handles are smooth and solid. A little difficult to hang a sand bag on the hook if the strap is wide.
