The Paterson Interfit Studio Light Tent offers an inexpensive yet highly effective means of photographing objects about the size of a breadbox, with the option of using interchangeable backgrounds.

It consists of tubular frame sections that fit and lock together at their corners, forming a 24 x 24 x 24" cube. The 5 white translucent nylon panel frames may be raised and lowered by choice. Use your lighting and background material to make full use of the tent.

The white translucent panels soften any kind of light used -- strobe, tungsten, fluorescent, HMI, ambient daylight.

While less than ideal for repeated assembly and disassembly (too many pieces and steps), this light tent works well set up long-term in the studio. There are no instructions, but assembly is not hard to figure out. The four upright side poles have small feet on the bottom, while the remaining aluminum poles fit into the black plastic joints of those four poles to form the cube. Everything is tightened down afterwards.

Once the frame is assembled, the cloth panels are tied inside that frame. The rear cloth panel has a wide horizontal slit to allow background material to be attached to the outside pole using the two included spring "A" clamps. See my review of the Lowel Flexi-Shaft (B&H# LOFS) to learn how I suspend small objects inside this light tent.

Of course, the cloth panels can easily be removed and cleaned in the washing machine on the gentle cycle with warm water. The panels are thin, so can either be air dried to avoid shrinkage or tossed in the dryer for a few minutes (don't overheat). Storing the cloth panels away between use will obviously help them remain cleaner for longer periods.

After disassembly, the entire thing (poles, cloth, & clamps) stores away in a sturdy black canvas bag (included) with adjustable shoulder strap. The opening of the bag is secured with velcro.

The only thing missing is a cloth panel for the front. While not needed for most subjects, I drape translucent white ripstop nylon over the front to avoid reflections in particularly shiny objects. Always a good idea to keep a supply of ripstop nylon on hand in the studio for home-made light panels, impromptu light tents, and other projects.

I've now used this light tent for at least a year, maybe longer, without problems.

Using this for tabletop photography of still object, I like this tent for its ability to be quickly assembled and dissembled, with the added bonus of being able to change the sweeps without having to change out the whole tent. Lighting is even with the side panels. The ability to use clamp on lights is a nice bonus. The instructions for assembly were not really useful. The parts on the page were identified by a letter, but the parts were not marked in kind. The associated pictures of the assembly process were terrible copy of a copy of a copy quality. The instructions were not available on the manufacturer's website I would liked to have seen a light softener panel for the front to work with highly reflective objects. Though not a deal breaker, one can be easily made.

Comments about Interfit Studio Light Tent - 24x24x24" (61x61x61cm):

Good value for the price. Not simple and easy to break down and reassemble - plan on leaving it set up and don't plan on traveling with it. Included blue liner cloth not of much use - I found a 22x38 white desk blotter to make a curved seamless background. Works well unless subject is reflective (for example a bottle) as this can pick up cube corner details and wrinkles.

I took this product, and turned it into a dslr rig that looks sturdy and professional, and is lightweight. It looks better than most expensive rigs that's out there, and i'm not even done beefing the rig up.
Nothing but positive results, nothing negative to say about it, if the average person seen how my rig looks compared to other 1 to 2 grand rigs, these tents would fly off the shelf instantly.

After searching around for a small light tent, I decided to go with this one. For me it came down to the fact that the frame was not a 'foldable' version; I like the tubular aluminum frame. I didn't see the advantage of the colapsible version out there versus this in its carry bag. My only issue was the 'instructions' provided were useless. I was able to figure out how to put it together with out them.

Overall, I'm happy with the 'tent.' I have shot many items for sale on the web and all have turned out great.

I bought this tent to photograph the ceramics I make, after reading the several other positive reviews left by other potters - I'm glad I did!
The only things I would change about it would be to make the graphics on the assembly instructions a little more clear; and it would be great if it came with a gradient backdrop. I had to purchase that separately, and needed to trim the sides to get it to fit.

The seamless paper that is sold as an optional item with this light tent doesn't fit. You have to take a hack saw and saw off a few inches to make it fit.
