Small and lightweight, Sony's Lithium-ion batteries can be charged or discharged at anytime without developing memory effect. This means they never lose their ability to hold a full charge. They also display remaining battery time on the LCD as well as in the viewfinder by continuously communicating with the camcorder. InfoLithium battery packs have a built-in micro processor that accurately calculates remaining battery life in minutes.

I bought this battery for my HDR FX 1 camcorder because all the info said it would last about 480 mins. It's no where near that. It took a call to Sony to find out that it will only last, in record, about 280 mins. At first I thought it needed a different charger, because it would only charge to 280 mins. Sony said "that is within it's specs" It's not what they put on the package!

Comments about Sony NP-F770 L-Series Info-Lithium Battery Pack (7.2v, 4400mAh):
Bottom line is this - I tried off brands and even tested down to the minute. As it turned out the Sony NP-F770 only lasted 19 minutes less than the "Off Brand" NP-F970 which is the bigger battery (I was using a Sony FS700 camera). Not only that, the other brands readout for the time left on the battery would go to about 65% and drop to 0% at the last minute which caused the camera to turn off in the middle of the recording. Many of you know if you turn a camera off in the middle of recording and you corrupt the file... good luck getting your data back. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. With the actual Sony NP-F770 the percent readings go right down one percent at a time with plenty of warning at 1% to make the switch. I really agonized over which to use until I tested two separate batteries with very similar results. Hope that helps you.

THIS BATTERY CONTAIN MORE POWER THAN THE Np-F525 Version. The battery have over 240 minutes in the camera. Which mean the longer the shoot, the better the timing in the video shoot.

This battery fits my camcorder perfectly, unlike a lesser expensive battery I tried. I have only used it for a short time but so far it appears to perform perfectly with plenty of run time. I would be quick to recommend this to a friend. However, I think it should be a little less expensive than it is ........ but, perhaps you get what you pay for.

I have been burned buying what I "thought" were Sony Batteries off of [@]. Buying from B & H assures me I`m getting what I paid for! Battery works great in both my vx2100 & fx 1000. Great battery life!

Comments about Sony NP-F770 L-Series Info-Lithium Battery Pack (7.2v, 4400mAh):
If you are unable to get your hands on Sony's bigger and more expensive NP-F970 battery, this one is a great alternative. Not only has enough juice to power my cameras, but can drive my video lights for long periods of time (30+ minutes and only went down one bar on the power meter). I pack several of these in my bag and don't worry about power the rest of the day.
IMHO, Sony is overpriced on a bunch of things but they make GREAT batteries. I would highly recommend getting Sony originals instead of 3rd party OEM replacements.

Comments about Sony NP-F770 L-Series Info-Lithium Battery Pack (7.2v, 4400mAh):
I have to say, coming from other batteries and cameras, using this battery on the FS100 is amazing. I had thought for a second to order the larger battery, but having used this one that actually ships with the camera, I was amazed at how long I could use it. I have two and have NEVER needed a 3rd on a full day of shooting. Will probably buy a few more just so I can NEVER worry about power over a weekend shoot.
