This is the third Justin Spring Clamp that I've bought, because it's a great tool for shooting with off-camera flash on location. The unusual nature of my flash subjects requires that my gear be highly portable, which the Justins are. In a sense, one Justin clamp can substitute for a lightstand, a micro ballhead, and a cold shoe, since you can attach a number of them to one light stand if you're short on stands (provided that you weight the stand sufficiently with sand bags or something similar).
One of my favorite pieces of gear for working with PocketWizard Flexes and Speedlites is the Manfrotto Micro Ballhead, which you can place on top of a lightstand and then position your flash in any direction or way that you want. The Justin clamps go them one better, if you're shooting say, with five or more Speedlites, as I often do. You can attach any number of Justin clamps to one light stand (provided you weight the stand), and then combine the power of however many flash units by turning them in the same direction, or turn them in different directions for more coverage and varied intensities of light. The cold shoes are well-designed to hold your Flex or Speedlite securely, and the clamp is strong enough to attach securely to a light stand or tripod or any number of other types of objects, while not being so "strong" that you would have trouble opening their jaws.
As is usual with Manfrotto, the build and design of the product is first-rate.

I bought this clamp because I saw many videos, with Professional photographers using them. Every time that I saw them clamping the device, I thought: "those guys are in fact all very weak! Why are they shaking so much when pressing it? Why are they using both hands?" But now I realize that the spring is REALLY, REALLY strong. I mean, unnecessarily strong. You could hold a car with that spring, and it would not fall. :o) Just to get you an idea, it the tip of the clamp it comes with 4 small rubbers for adding some protection. These rubbers where totally smashed against each other right out of the box. This is for small and light flashes. IMHO the spring is not the best quality and too strong. Well… Other than that, a very useful device. I gave it 3 stars, just because it is hard to fix it, but other than that, I am satisfied.

Comments about Manfrotto 175F Justin Spring Clamp with Flash Shoe:
I know what a Manfrotto spring clamp costs and I know what the Mini Ball with cold shoe costs but for some reason I was stingy and put off buying one. I regret not buying one sooner and will be getting at least one more. I have adopted the faster, more portable style of lighting for portraits and other similar people photography that generally involves 1-3 Speedlights. I used to set up power packs and strobes to do shots like that in the past. I have clamped this thing everywhere from light stands to furniture, table tops and tree branches. Very handy! As I said, I'm getting more. I used to use the umbrella style brackets to mount Speedlights, but find this is faster with the Mini Ball head.

Comments about Manfrotto 175F Justin Spring Clamp with Flash Shoe:
Allows you to easily place a speed light anywhere. It sports a very strong clamp so there is no fear of your gear falling. The ball head is sturdy; however, the cold shoe seems a bit cheap and might lose its tension overtime. A must for photographers who need adaptable grip options.

Does everything it supposed to do. Great for off-camera flash or remote lighting. Slightly bulky but solid construction with a firm grip.

Comments about Manfrotto 175F Justin Spring Clamp with Flash Shoe:
It's sturdy. The ball head locks solid and as long as the lock on your flash is solid, the flash will stay in the holder. That is if you are going to use the flash directly on the head. If you are going to try putting a wireless trigger on the flash and then putting it on the head, you will have to be careful that the flash does not slip out. I taped it in. I have also tried clipping this onto the top bar of a backdrop stand. It just won't hold, at least not on that large of a bar. The grip on all other surfaces however is great and lots of ways to hook onto stands.

I purchased this as part of the "Scott Kelby Location Kit" and plan to use it in a home studio for the family and some friends. I'm a budding enthusiast using speedlites right now, so these were a good choice for me. The flash shoe is a soft plastic/rubber material, but holds securely. The clamp is strong enough to hold a quality diffuser/reflector. Everything worked well out of the box and I used it right away to make some Christmas card pictures. Overall, its quality I would expect from this brand name and I'm very satisfied.

I don't trust the shoe to hold my zillion-dollar flash, so I'll be replacing that. If I'm anywhere near a lightstand or c-stand I'd rather use that than fiddle with this thing. Would probably be most useful on hikes in the woods or for the urban minimalist photographer.

I recently bought a set of Canon 580EX11 speedlights. and needed a way to secure them for my off camera flash photography. I decided to buy one of the Justing spring Clamp and was very impressed. It was well built and was able to support my flash without slipping or scratching the furniture. The ball head attachment for the flash unit made repositioning the flash very simple once it was secured.I plan to get two more.
