Comments about Norman Photo Eye - Optical Slave:

Great for studio use. I wanted to purchase more PWs for outside use, then thought, "why not get an optical slave to trigger my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lights in the studio, and take my PWs outside." This would save me money. Not great for outdoor use, especially during daytime, sunny hours. Highly recommend for the new studio shooter, as well as a money-saver for the seasoned pro.

Comments about Norman Photo Eye - Optical Slave:

It does what it's supposed to, but note the limits of optical slaves. They don't work well outdoors in direct sunlight, and they don't wake up a hot shoe type flash (you have to walk over and do that yourself). They pretty much need to be line of site with another flash, though this one has a lens and will thus fire when another flash isn't pointed as directly at it. How directly pointed it has to be depends a little on how big the room is and how dark the walls are.

If your flash has a screw mount (such as the Canon 580 exII) you should use a cable that has that. It will keep it from wiggling loose and thus avoid a possible problem.
