I needed a converter for my office printer. Its an older HP LaserJet, which still used a parallel cable for interface to my computer dock. When I recently received a computer upgrade, no parallel port was available. This cable did the job, and i'm still using the same old printer.

We just changed to a windows 7 workstation in my office. Opps no more parallel ports. Our great reliable HP laser jet did not need to be replaced. Enter B and H with a solution at a GREAT price. !/2 of what Mirco-Center was charging. Adapter works great!!! Thanks B and H

I upgraded to a quad core with 64bit processor and the motherboard did not have a parallel port.
The reason I'm not giving this a 5 rating is because even with the printer on the same desk the cable was about 2-3 feet short. Lucky that in my past life I was a Systems Engineer and had extra USB extenders for the cable otherwise I would have had to wait for an extender to be able to use the product.

I came across an old HP 4L Laser printer at the back of the closet, and having a lot of b&w draft printing to do, figured out that using the old printer and toner might be a better idea than using the brand new machine I bought a short while ago . . . the Iogear parallel to usb adapter was the best (few bucks) money spent . . . easy to hook up, worked flawlessly and still going stron, page after page

2 yrs ago I got a cheaper cable that worked, so I originally ordered 2 more of the same cable (neither of which worked). Then I read reviews of this cable & ordered 2 of them to hook our HP Laser Jet 5 to the new computers. Both of them worked great, no setup, the computer recognized them & they work great.

I used the adapter to hook my Windows 7 64bit Dell to an older HP 4L Laser printer. My new PC didn't have the correct parallel port, but plenty of USB 2.0 ports. The cable made it possible to make use of an old reliable printer that I can use for simple text prints. It's just a cable so not much more to say then that and it works.

Hooked it up to a HP DeskJet 842C, loaded the driver, plugged in the USB to our Dell laptop and I was good to go in about 10 minutes after opening package

Comments about Iogear USB to Parallel Printer Adapter (6.0'):
Needed to be able to print from my newer laptop (which doesn't have the older parallel printer port, only USB ports) to connect to my HP Laserjet 4M. Read a LOT of comments online about people having problems with certain "cheaper" cables, but the IOGEAR GUC1284B cable/adapter consistently had good reviews.Purchased it from B&H at a VERY fair price, [...] B&H is a GREAT source to purchase from.Given I have a Windows XP machine (and not an older Windows 95/98/ME machine, which would require use of the included CD/Driver) I simply plugged the cable into my laptop, everything was automatically recognized, and I printed a test page within seconds!!!In short, great product... great company to order from. Would HIGHLY recommend both.

This cable worked instantly and perfectly as a solution to connect a HP LaserJet 6MP (ca. 1996) to an Apple Airport Extreme, for use with an Intel iMac running 10.6 Snow Leopard. Frankly I was amazed at how simple this was.

I plugged it into my good old HP 690 deskjet, other end (usb) into the laptop and it works (after a one minute of auto install). Didnt install the added CD, so Im not sure if something is missing...
Overall: Good working product.
