You Pay: $75.95
Product Highlights
  • Cardioid Polar Pattern
  • Includes 15' Cable

From the Audio-Technica Midnight Blues series of microphones, the MB4K is a handheld microphone that provides studio grade quality at a modest price point. The MB4K features a true condenser element and is powered by external 11 - 52 Volt phantom or internal 1.5V AA alkaline battery power. The condenser capsule enhances sensitivity, detail and output level while maintaining a low noise floor.

The MB4K features a cardioid polar pattern that effectively minimizes noise and audio at the off-axis sections of the capsule. The pattern reduces noise caused by adjacent instruments, vocalists and feedback from nearby monitor speakers. The rugged design features a power switch for enhanced user control. The MB4K is an excellent choice for capturing vocals and instruments in recording and sound reinforcement applications.

Comments about Audio-Technica MB4K/C - Cardioid Condenser Microphone with XLR Microphone Cable (15-Foot):

I'm quite an experienced live sound engineer. I found this to be a greatly overlooked microphone. It can do great vocals with good rejection for a condenser, therefor it's also perfect as a single piano mic (even in a small stage with half lid open). It excels on acoustic and world instruments. Sounds fantastic on classical guitar if EQ'ed and positioned right. It has very good feedback rejection for a condenser, and doesn't have any surprises even if you tuned your wedge to an sm58 (perhaps a little touch on the highs, as expected, but less than Beta 87), making it a great mic for artists sharing wedges or festival works. It has almost flat response, and for a condenser it's a much better quality than hyped high-mids and highs to serve as a utility mic. It's just ain't marketed well, but IMO it deserves to become a standard live sound condenser at least as anything else, just because it can do almost anything. When you compare it to SM58 on vocals it sounds like a clearer brother, unlike comparing SM58 to Sennheisers or EV, which can sound totally different and leads to a different house EQ. Mine didn't suffer any falls yet, so I can't tell how durable it is. I assume it's ok.

I Use Four Of These In My Bluegrass Band For Vocals. It Picks Up Great With Out Being Too Close To The Mike. Very Clean Sound. Better Than My SM-58 Sure Mikes. Great Price Too.

I use it for my narration tract when doing video production. I was using a dynamic mic. But I was getting hum, because the mic was tying hard to hear.
With the Audio-Technica Condenser Microphone, there is no problem. The condenser mic operates with electricity, which gives a stronger signal, thus eliminating hum. Works Great!
