I've been using these tapes in a Sony HDR-HC3 HD camcorder since December, 2006. When I first purchased the camcorder I used standard MiniDV tapes and experienced drop outs. This caused great difficulty when trying to edit in Premiere Elements. I have used over 25 of the Sony HDV tapes to date and they have preformed flawlessly. I intend to save the tapes as my masters, so I feel they are well worth the price.

We use a Canon XH A1 and use the Sony HD tapes as they are most consistent than other brands. However, we shoot 20-30 tapes a month and there are always 1-2 tapes that fail (no timecode, do not capture data). It might not be a Sony issue as we've heard certain cameras only play well with certain brand tapes, but, these tapes generally have 1-2 bad tapes every 20-30 tapes.

This is a great tape that has treated me well. Honestly, I really just want to win $1000 for writing a review, so I don't need to buy tapes anymore, and can upgrade to a new camera...that I'd totally buy from B&H. Love you guys. Keep offering great products and great prices. Cheers.

Never dropped a frame yet using this product.
Reason for only 3 stars is the price. I've seen Sony tapes labeled "professional" for a fraction of the cost.

Bought these tapes and shipped to Canada - paid less half of what I would have paid had I bought the exact same ones from the local stores. Shipping was fast and tapes worked great. Excellent value and fantastic product.
Comments about Sony DVM-63HD HDV Cassette (63 Minutes):
Don't let anyone tell you there is no such thing as HD video tapes! I try to tell people it is just like the old 35 mm film cameras. There IS a difference between good and bad film OR tape. The chemical compound and reliability of the Sony HD mini DV tapes is worth the price. I have tried cheaper and non HD tapes and they have much more sound noise and video "noise. The HD tapes have a clearer picture and fewer "dropouts." Of course, most people can't tell the difference between .mp3 and a good quality CD so what do I know.....

I shoot weddings and was told to buy these tapes for my Canon XH-A1s. I play the footage into my computer using a Canon HV40 and at around the 58 minutes mark I would get serious timecode breaks and streaming issues. I then play into the comp using the XHA1s and it helped tremendously. I've heard people say they never get timecode breaks with these tape. So, your mileage may vary.
