Comments about Verbatim DVD+R 4.7GB, 8x, DataLifePlus Shiny Silver Disc (Spindle Pack of 50):
When chosing quality at a great price, there is no better disc than these. 8X and lower are always recommended for stand alone DVD recorders, and most computers. 16X cause disc errors, due to how fast it spins to capture date. Verbatim (older)manufactured discs are far more stable than current discs made in a variety of new countries. These are stable with no disc error as a result. With AZO dyes, they also provide deep rich recording and good borders to play on other players.

Comments about Verbatim DVD+R 4.7GB, 8x, DataLifePlus Shiny Silver Disc (Spindle Pack of 50):
DVD Recorders operate properly without error when recording when you have consistent discs, along with good quality dye and much needed borders to finalize properly. 8X discs or an even lower number is important when recording with a DVD recorder, when using 16X discs, there is usually an increase in disc error or playback issues. Verbatim older manufactured discs are much sought out because the newer discs are no longer made in Taiwan and their failure rate increases significantly. This exact disc is by far, the ONLY disc that will have long term endurance, no error and the VERY BEST quality out there. There is NO other manufacturer who compares. Avoid 16X discs, avoid later manufactured Verbatims which are now manufactured in Singapore, India and other non-reliable countries. These are the VERY best blank media there are.

Good quality; works as expected. Hard to find 8X disks anymore, and this speed works much better in my system, so it was great to find them here.

So far these discs have worked in several different computers and home dvd players without incident. Many internet reviews have convinced me that this brand and type of DVD+R is as good as any out there for archival storage.

I have an older Dell computer with it's original 4x DVD burner. I have always been able to use 8x Verbatim DVDs, but can no longer find them in local stores. (The 16x DVD blanks locally available do not work). I recently tried another brand of 8x DVDs, and got errors about 50% of the time. Not good!! These Verbatim 8x DVD blanks, however, work flawlessly, with 0% errors. Thanks B&H for still carrying them!

No bad writes! These DVD+R's work great and are an exceptional value for what you get! I have gone through about half of my current spindle and all writes have been successful, which is more than I can say for other brands.

Comments about Verbatim DVD+R 4.7GB, 8x, DataLifePlus Shiny Silver Disc (Spindle Pack of 50):
Blank DVD media is one of those areas where the old saying "you get what you pay for" really applies. It was only during the last year, after burning hundreds of discs, that I began to investigate the reason why I had such a high rate of burn errors. After ruling out outdated firmware for my DVD burner and other technical issues, I discovered that poor quality, mass produced blank media were to blame. After testing a number of brands, I found that Verbatim has a consistently high success rate in burning and the image and sound quality are well worth the added expense, compared to average brands frequently available at mass market retailers. When you consider the failure rate associated with cheaper brands -- not to mention wasted time and effort --you cannot do better than using Verbatim blank media. Be sure to check your DVD burner speed for compatibility of the variety of discs available from Verbatim and also consider what surface you want on the top of the disc -- the movie reel design or shiny surface for screen printing or applying a label. I simply use a Sharpy, fine point permanent marker, so Verbatim DataLifePlus's shiny surface allows a lot of area to write down the contents.
