I bought this because I have a YJM 308 by DOD & was curious of the difference.Ive only tried it with a plexi so far (my other Marshall is acting up & my only other amp is still on layaway),but the 308 sounded much better. This one is a bit "flubby" on the low end & lacks the bite of the 308.I'm keeping it to mod though so no big loss,it was cheap enough.

Comments about DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp Pedal:

I use this with my 5 string Spector bass and an Xotic XBlender. This product is great for adding a small amount of overdrive/grind to a bass tone. Heavy distortion and fuzz tones are not in this pedal. I bought this to add a little edge and a boost on certain parts of songs - this definitely delivers. Keeps most of the low end, but will lose some at the highest settings. The only downside being the lack of an LED light showing the effect on or off.

Comments about DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp Pedal:

This box has some nice break up on it. I run it after a Fulldrive 2 Mosfet, so the added gain and boost really makes this box shine. Great slinky sounding overdrive with a small bite. Very transparent and it responds well to the dynamics of my playing. I also used this on my Peavey bass guitar and the results were also great. Put it right between a compressor and a bigmuff and watch it sing! Cons-the adaptor is a big con. AC 10v adaptor required. While it's not expensive, it's just a hassle to have another wall wort to plug in. Also, no on or off light.Overall, will buy a second one for my bass, it really is that good for this price.

Comments about DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp Pedal:

If you're looking for that vintage, crunchy distortion and like to keep things simple, well, it cannot go simpler than this. Two knobs, one switch. 9v ac or battery and you're good to go. The only problem I see in this pedal is that it doesn't even have a led or light indicating it is on or off. Other than that, the sound is great, pure singing distortion. Not too heavy, not weak also. Just enough for hard-rock or even metal if you're not too extreme.

Comments about DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp Pedal:

This pedal is for use as a pre-amp boost, especially when using single coil pickups as in a Strat or Telecaster guitar. Often when using single coils the output is low and a pedal like this is perfect to help shape your distorted tone. The 250 is mainly good for a warm, more bassy sound than it's younger sister, the 380 (or "Yngwie pedal" in common parlance). It doesn't feature as much bite as the former, but if you're buying this for any kind of sound heavier than, say, early 70s Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, or Who you should just go with the other one anyway. Another good example of a tone you can achieve with a Strat and the 250 is the Dave Gilmour from classic solos like Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb". There isn't much for true bypass, and you can only tweek the sound so much with just two dials to work with, but for the kind of sounds described above, you definitely will want to buy this pedal. Works terrific with both classic Cry Baby and Vox wahs as well, believe me I have had a great time running this pedal with those wahs!

You can't beat this reissue for the money. Perhaps a little gainier and brighter than the original issue grey 250, but very close to my original yellow pedal.

Comments about DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp Pedal:

I am a guitarist who originally used the DOD 250 overdrive pedal from the 80's and tried similar pedals over the years but without the same sound quality and was lucky enough to find the re-issue available through the B&H store at a great price [...]. When I got the pedal, it worked just like I remembered with great quality and durability. I am so satisfied that I may buy another unit! B&H have great products and I look forward to dealing with them again.

Comments about DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp Pedal:

Not really a clean boost or even technically true bypass either, this pedal adds high end sparkle when engaged and I doesn't kill tone in the pedall chain when it's turn off. It's boost volume well without adding too much gain too. Great if you signal lost in your chain or have a tremolo and are getting some volume loss.

May not be pro level hardware but the price is a plus. Could be a tad bit louder, but love the tone. Great buy.

Nice sustain and overdrive. But there is a loss of highs that makes the pedal unusable if you simply want a boost of your signal. This occurs even when the gain is all the way down.
