Comments about Manfrotto 196B-3 Articulated Arm - 3 Sections, With Bracket:
Usage:
Extend a camera for motion pictures of center portion of model train layout. The tripod is on a wheeled dolly.
Pros:
Highly adjustable and can mount my camera on one end.
Cons:
The arm did not have a fitting on one end that attached to or matched my Slik tripod head. Therefore, I had to fabricate something so it could attach snugly.
Other:
I experienced a great deal of up and down wobble as I rolled the tripod. I had to make a brace to stop the up and down wobble. In all fairness, this was probably more of a problem related to the head of my tripod.

I bought this to mount my iPad bracket over the lens for a teleprompter. Works like a champ! As all Manfrotto products, this is very well made and a great bang for the buck. The locks work well in securing the arms in the position you need. Also use this for camera mount monitor and light.
A great addition to the camera kit.

I use this for microphone placement, usually in hard to reach areas. The arm easily attaches many different ways to a mic or light stand, or clamp. The Manfrotto Articulated Arm was a great purchase as the ways it can be twisted turned manipulated and positioned seem to be endless. I am very pleased as the item does far more than I imagined when I purchased it. My one issue is that it moves in so many directions, I cannot seem to find the original position it came in right out of the box ;-)

Comments about Manfrotto 196B-3 Articulated Arm - 3 Sections, With Bracket:
I have just used this one time, however it works well for placing my sensor in various positions at various angles. (I am actually using it to perform testing with an industrial sensor.)
It performs solidly with nice thick tubes and robust joints.
I'd give it a 5-star if it had 'quick or half-turn locking mechanisms' at the joints instead of the present thumb screws (which still work well).
