The Chimera Video Pro Plus 1 Triolet Kit is a combination of several products--for much less than if you bought everything a la carte.
A small Video Pro Plus 1 softbox (with speed ring) and the Triolet continuous light fixture (with a 1000W bulb) form the core of this kit. The softbox is designed for use with a hot light but can be used with flash as well. With a silver interior intended for the heat of a continuous light, the Small Video Pro Plus 1 is ideal for work in small spaces when medium soft light is required.
The 24 x 32" size is lightweight and portable. The "Plus 1" designation means the front face of the softbox is removable--Chimera makes different strengths of diffusion material for front face applications. The softbox comes with a one-stop diffuser, (hence the "1" designation). Purchasing the 1/2 and 1/4 grid cloths separately would allow for more light transmission and less softening of the light. A fabric eggcrate light modifier that attaches to the front of the softbox, directing and narrowing the beam (to 40°) for more control, is also included.
This fixture is equipped for 120V AC operation. It will also function with 220-240V AC with the appropriate bulb and plug adapter, available separately.

Not only does this kit produce a beautiful quality of light, everything in the kit is absolutely top quality. Chimera boxes are great, but the triolet fixture and speed ring are awesome. My kits came with matthews stands, not avenger, which made me even happier. Totally worth the money.

This light puts out the most even soft light that I have used compaired to using an Arri fernel, open face or tota light in a Chimera soft box. So nice to have eveything needed in one package, no need to piece meal purchase all the necesary components together to make this light do what you need. My one complaint, if you can call it that , is the power cord for the light is so short a stinger is necessary (the reason for the missing star) I've gotten used to those long power cords on Arri's. As for using a mogul lamp... that sucker gets hot and you can't disassemble the unit until lamp has cooled a lot. To get around that I bought a 9"X12" heat cloth used for burn protection when soldering. I roll the lamp up in it when it has cooled a little, this cloth also acts as protection when transporting the lamp.

This kit is fantastic. It makes the perfect key for interviews, is easy to set up, and is very sturdy. The Chimera speed ring is absolutely awesome -- no more fussing for 20 minutes trying to break down your soft box!

Bought this kit to use on head and shoulder interviews and the light quality is superb. It comes with a grid and extra diffuser. I've been a long time Chimera user and this is the perfect kit to get great quality light indoors.
