This Chimera Quick Release Speed Ring allows mounting of Chimera, or almost any other brand rectangular softbox to a White Lightning Ultra flash head.
The Quick Release Series releases the tension of the wands in the frame of your softbox, allowing it to collapse easily for breakdown, or for moving on quickly to the next setup without disassembling the box.

After my last battle with my big half dome soft box which resulted in bruised fingers, broken finder nails, a broken pole, and several bent poles, I gave myself permission to order a couple of these speed rings. The insert diameter on this speed ring is too small for the Paul Buff Einstein strobes. It does not allow the Einstein fingers to completely close into the locked position. The fingers will only close down about 60%, just past the midpoint. For lighter softboxes this may not be an issue. However, with larger and heavier softboxes it will fall off. When the fingers are completely closed the fingers "lock" and no longer depend on the spring tension to stay closed. When the fingers are only partially closed, as with this speed ring, you are only using the weak spring tension to hold up your softbox and that's very risky. People who claim that this speed ring fits the Einstein are not aware of this fact and are likely using a small and light softbox.
A much better alternative to this product is the Bowens Quick Ring with the SP Studio Systems insert.

This speed ring and insert diameter is a PERFECT fit for the Einstein with almost no "play" once mounted. Most importantly the fingers close completely and "lock." I've read the reports on the Internet about the poor fit of the Chimera for Einstein. I purchased both the Chimera and Bowens and confirmed that the Chimera doesn't fit. Needless to say I sent it back.

It works great on my White Lightning x1600s and my Chimera soft boxes. They make setting up and taking down the boxes really easy. I can't imagine not having them available to me now.

Comments about Chimera Quick Release Speed Ring for White Lightning Ultra:
I have the large (54x72) non-slim version of the Chimera softbox as well as the medium (36x48) version. While the medium one fits nice and comfortable on my strobes (Einsteins), the large one seems a bit too heavy and I worry that it will one day fall off the strobe. However, it hasn't fallen yet. There does appear to be three screw holes at the bottom of the ring (can't see in the picture). I'm thinking that there must be an additional support fixture that will allow me to attach the softbox to my light stand in order to take the weight off the strobe. I just need to find it. Other than that, this thing works very well for medium and smaller sizes. I don't have to worry about losing an eye during setup and teardown. If you're the type who leaves the poles in the softbox, then the setup is even quicker. For those who aren't sure how it works by just looking at the photo, the connections for the poles swivel 90 degrees forward. Once all the poles are connected and tightened, you pull back on each pole so that the connections swivels back outwards and locks into place as shown in the photo.

The insert on this speed ring is too small for the Paul Buff Einstein strobe. It does not allow the clamps to completely close. For lighter softboxes this may not be an issue. Comments about Chimera Quick Release Speed Ring for White Lightning Ultra:
After struggling with our previous softbox (often took 5+ minutes to setup each box) we picked up a couple of these for our chimera 3x4 softboxes. They are simply amazing and well, well worth it. We keep ours assembled (I don't take the poles out like they recommend) and simply collapse it and put it back in the bag. Next location, just pull it out, put it on our White Lightnings, and open it up. Takes 30 seconds to full setup. One small addition I made was I bought some small rubber rings to put around the screws that hold the poles in place. They would loosen up from setting up/taking down and occasionally fall out if I forgot to check them. With the rings tightened in around the screws, it holds great and if I ever have to take the screws out, I can still do it with my fingers. Awesome, awesome product! Highly recommended.

I had an manufacture's brand...it was difficult to use and I sold it quickly. This one I'll keep.
