I've got two of these now, and I love them. I stick them on C-stands or light stands to hold all sorts of miscellaneous accessories, and they've never failed me. I like the black look better than chrome, feels more professional.

Comments about Avenger D200 2.5" Grip Head (Black):
I own quite a number of these and they are the backbone of all our studio lighting setups for holding and positioning all our flash heads gobos etc.
They are also indispensible for table top setups where we use them in conjunction with some grip arms to create a three sided railing above the shooting stage which is used to suspend speedlights gobos etc.

I shoot pro video. I bought this as a boom mic holder for those sit interviews or when a scene is static and I don't have to pay a boom mic operator.

Comments about Avenger D200 2.5" Grip Head (Black):
Cast and machined aluminum unit measures about 6 1/2 inches long and weighs more than a pound so it's a bit much for the one-bag kit use, but it is extremely well engineered. Best for heavy uses such as booms, indoor studio setups and so forth. Pivot relies on nicely thought out friction plates instead of teeth or detents, with the screw head (with rubber coated grip) pushing against a sealed ball-bearing ring so the screw doesn't loosen when the fixture arc is adjusted. Really good to have. Wish they made a similar but smaller light-weight unit for portable uses.

Comments about Avenger D200 2.5" Grip Head (Black):
This head has two advantages over the black matthews head. First, there are two threaded places on the receptor. It allows the head to be mounted on a kit stand. Also my black matthews grip head sticks to flags sometime, because the paint is thick. This Avenger head is powder coated.

I bought this grip head to attach a Manfrotto mini boom arm to my light stand for a small boom, and it's fantastic. The grip head feels very durable, and I think that it could manage a lot more than I'm asking of it.

Comments about Avenger D200 2.5" Grip Head (Black):
I did not expect this level of quality from such an inexpensively-priced device. The build quality is great and it holds boom arms securely. The brake pad rubber really makes a difference, and the rubberized coating on the main screw gives great tactile grip. Highly recommended.

This grip head is both solid and versatile, it is heavy but that is a good thing, it doesn't feel like it's gowing to break. It's easy to tighten and adjust. It also has very little reflectivity since it has a matte black finish.
