I purchased the Azden Mic & Transmitter as an economical way to get better audio from wedding videos and, for the price, the system exceeded my expectations. It tested well at up to 150' as long as there were no obstructions. It is not broadcast grade sound quality, but it was certainly a vast improvement over the camera's onboard shotgun mic. In fact, after hearing the results of the first one, I bought another mic for my second camera.

The very minor drawback is that the mic feels somewhat flimsy. I don't imagine it will take a lot of abuse. Also, there are only two channels. But if your needs are not complicated this unit is an inexpensive solution.

I've been using a WLT/Pro system for more than a decade for corporate videos, first with a Sony VX 1000 and now with a Canon Vixia HF200. I use both wireless lavs and wireless handhelds. We chose it because at the time (around 1999?) we wanted to be able to run two mics at once into one receiver and it was the only duel-channel wireless available.

For the price, the system can't be beat. The only problem I have with it is occasional static in the audio. However, that's a big problem, and it's what drops my rating from 5 to 3. Still, I can't afford to put an $800 system (Azden 325 ULT) on a $750 camera. But for less critical applications, where occasional burst of static isn't going to kill your video, this is the perfect low-cost system.

When it comes to lavs vs. handhelds with the system, the handhelds seem to have better sound and less problem with static. They're a bit light, and handling noise comes through (so you have to instruct your hosts not to fondle the mics), but otherwise, I like them very mucch.

The product seems to work adequately but it is poorly constructed. The belt clips feel like they will break off the first time someone uses them.

Comments about Azden WLT/PRO VHF Wireless Bodypack Transmitter:

I use the product to film my video tutorial series about Geocaching. We utilize up to two microphones which feed to either my zoom recorder or the HD camcorder. They work as expected with no real setup to speak with. The sound is more than acceptable again for the price you are paying. One suggestion would be a little more volume control on the fly but other than that I like them.

I was happy with the price for the Azden products and their performance has been excellent.

I bought this transmitter to replace one I lost many years ago. It is works like it always did even with the older receiver. A good fit for my Panasonic TM900. This little set up is right for the price. You can spend a lot more for the same results as the Azden. I don't know what took me so long to replace it.

Pretty good deal for a wireless transmitter, but take care if you already has the WLX-PRO, because if you are trying to use two transmitters with one receiver there will be some noises with two transmitters working.
