This dvd is a great walk through of the features of the Canon XL2. They explain every button and switch on the camera. This is recommended as an entry level overview as they do not go too far in depth with the operation of the camera. It is a must have for beginners.

Overall, this DVD is a great introduction to the operation of Canon's XL2 camcorder. First half of the DVD was the best part with explanations done by a very experianced professional cameraman whose presentation was calm, very clear, and precise. The description and imaging of the XL2 functions was great. Second half of the DVD had a different presenter who was harder to understand and not as good as the first.

Lots of menu details but not enough details on accessories. Very little cause and effect on the final video product as a result of the menu choices made. The menu items were covered in detail, which was very well presented...but once again, on both video and audio, very little effect was presented. I would have like to see more of the actual operation of the XL-2 as an audio/visual instrument in addition to just a technical description of the unit. I would recommend this video as an aid to the XL-2, but it needs a Part II video on operation.

I actually bought this DVD because I was researching what camera I should buy. The DVD is your standard "how to operate" and "what these buttons do" and "check out this feature" and mostly panders to the lowest common denominator. The production quality is comparible to other camera guide DVDs I've seen (which isn't saying much). Honestly, I wouldn't say it is worth the price. If you are too lazy to read an instruction manual and too lazy to surf the internet, the DVD might be worth it. If not save your money. The use of the word ULTIMATE in this case is hyperbole and, honestly, it is misleading.

The product is great. It has a lot of info and is very well organized. I have watched it once and picked up some points. I need to watch it about 20 more times to get all the info out of it.
I do wish how ever that it explained more about the technical terms it uses. For a novice like me it is somewhat necessary. Over all a great product.
