Works as advertised. Don't get the ADVC-110 without it. You'll need it eventually, and you'll regret not having it. It should be sold with the converter.

I purchased this product because I was having problems with my old ADVC-300. But that wasn't the problem.

In any case it arrived in perfect condition and quickly. Like always, B&H is great!!!

This is more than a mere wall wart, there is a detachable cord. The quality is good, and I use a piece of 3M Heavy Duty "Velcro" to hold it to my ADVC-110. The DC connector is scarce, it is EIAJ-02 and will fit a 2-Wire DSL modem I found in an emergency. Amazing that BHPhoto had it in stock. I would recommend this product.

I have to use this because laptop makers except one do not provide a six pin IEEE 1394 port. An inexpensive after market power brick will work but I didn't want to take a chance.

I am a professional musician who uses a computer to play background tracks and show videos while in concert. I needed a new advc-100 after an old one blew out, but it wouldn't run with the firewire power. I needed the power supply immediately, before a flight out of the country, and only B&H carried it. I went in as the first customer in the morning, and was out of there with just enough time to catch my flight from JFK! And it worked like a dream.

I bought the ADVC-110 and debated about getting the power supply. There is a deffinite improvement in the audio with some applications when I use the power supply. I was getting a noisy hum without the power supply. Glad I bought it.

I bought the ADVC-110 to convert analog audio and video feeds to Firewire for webcasting and for transferring analog stuff to hard drives. In a controlled environment, and if you get it to work without the power supply, it's fine. To really get the full functionality of all the inputs and outputs, buy the AC Adaptor! 4-pin firewire (ieee 1394) would work some of the time, (depending on the laptop) but I couldn't get the 4 pin to 6 pin cable to work consistently with the ADVC-110 until I came back and bought the power supply. Now, all of the inputs and outputs are rock solid, I have a lot more functionality (everything works like the manual says it should) and I have greater confidence the ADVC-110 is doing everything correctly. The only reason I didn't give the package all 5 stars is I think the AC adaptor should be included, even if they have to charge a few more bucks for the kit.

I only purchased the power cord here but will review the whole unit-
After having a box of old Video8 tapes around for years we decided we would like to transfer the home movies to digital and have the ability to edit.
The Canopus ADVC110 works well. Audio is in sync with video, easy to use, no problems whatsoever.

Using the Canopus power supply did not fix the problem using the device with my Dell laptop, as the Canopus tech support suggested it might. :(

This 110vac-5VDC Power Supply for the Canopus A/D Video Capture System is necessary unless you have a 6-pin firewire connection. If you have a laptop, chances are you have a 4-pin firewire connection, which will not power the Canopus unit.
The Canopus A/D system works great, and I wouldn't trust a 3rd party power supply with sensitive video capture on the line. A 6pin to 4 pin firewire cable is included.

If you want your ADVC to WORK, you NEED this. I bought my ADVC-100 used, but it didn't come with a power supply. So I researched online to find a comparable unit with the right specs. I found one that was very close and the unit powered up, but close just didn't cut it. Now all I had was an expensive paperweight with a couple of lights on it. I broke down and ordered one from B&H (who had the best price) and i[...] I plugged the thing in, and VOILA! Ain't nothin' like the REAL thing!

It allows me to do video capture on my laptop, which only has a 4 pin IEEE 1394 connector. With the 6 pin, power is provided by the interface.
