The Manfrotto 468MGRC5 is designed to meet the demands of professional photographers who require a light weight head but at the same time want to support heavy camera loads up to 26.5 lb.
The 468MG series uses a hydraulic system to lock the ball mechanism in place. Using hydraulics instead of a mechanical system produces a super-tight lock from a minimal turn of the locking knob, without sacrificing the smoothness of the ball's movement when unblocked. To keep weight low, the head is made of magnesium; and to provide smooth movements the 2" aluminum ball is Teflon coated. The oversized ball locking knob allows for easy control even when using gloves.
This head further offers a range of handy features: independent pan and tilt locks with a 360° pan movement; +90/-90° tilt movement; a graduated engraved panoramic base; and a calibrated adjustable friction control on the main knob.
The 468MGRC5 version uses the RC5 (3433PL) quick release plate, which uses a short sliding "video" camera plate to allow some front-back or side-to-side adjustment of the camera's position above the head, which ensures that the load of the camera and lens is balanced above the tripod's center of gravity for more secure usage.

Comments about Manfrotto 468MGRC5 Magnesium Hydrostatic Ballhead - Supports 26.5 lb (12kg):
This is one of the best ball heads in terms of stability and strength i have ever tried. with a tiny twist of the knob in holds the ball rock solid with very little to none creeping even with the heaviest equipment loaded on it.

Comments about Manfrotto 468MGRC5 Magnesium Hydrostatic Ballhead - Supports 26.5 lb (12kg):
This ball head feels like surgical tool, very precise, effortless and the hydrostatic feature is to be adored. This ball head provides a endless degree of angles, the plate is solid and it attaches to the camera quite easily and it does not require much pressure to stay in place, together with the Giotto's tripod it makes for a phenomenal combo, pricey but worth the expense, you will not regret it. Thanks

Comments about Manfrotto 468MGRC5 Magnesium Hydrostatic Ballhead - Supports 26.5 lb (12kg):
An excellent choice, supports even the 500mm f/4L IS and camera, without straining it. The included mounting plate allows for full usage of lenses with twin screw tripod feet, like the 500mm, for extra security. In addition, I like its light and compact design since I've paired it with the very portable Gitzo Carbon Fiber GT3530S. Finally, if you register the product with Bogen when you buy, you will gain a full 5 year warranty. Great utility for the price!
