LPR (light pollution reduction) filters are designed to selectively reduce transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light.  These include mercury vapor, high & low pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emissions in our atmosphere.  The UHC LPR filter has improved contrast over the typical broadband filters, giving darker background skies and noticeably improved contrast of emission nebulae.  The advanced coatings enable and impressive 97% total transmission across the entire bandpass, with total blockage of prominent light pollution lines.  It is a perfect filter for viewing nebula from light polluted skies as well as for boosting the contrast of nebula from dark sky sites.

Multilayer, plasma-assisted and Ionbeam hardened dielectric coatings yield supreme durability

Comments about Celestron Ultra High Contrast Light Pollution Reduction Filter (1.25"):

I live in the DC suburbs, where seeing conditions are not great. This filter made a significant difference in the view I have of faint objects. The Orion Nebula looks significantly better with this filter than without. None of the descriptions of this filter indicated that it would make stars appear bluer, but that is a minor point.

I can't tell a difference but the Wife says she can when we use this filter on her Celestron Ultima eyepieces on the Celestron 8" SCT telescope. She says it works, so there's that.

Looked at Saturn this morning and could not get it to focus, put this filter on and it was 110% clearer. The only LPR filter I own, can not compare. had a bit of Dew condensation, not the filters fault though.

Comments about Celestron Ultra High Contrast Light Pollution Reduction Filter (1.25"):

I've tried this filter on two scopes: one small 3" Reflector and an 8" Dobsonian. On neither did it seem to do what was advertised. It seems that people have the most luck with this on Nebulas but I pointed it at what was supposed to be the brighter Nebulas but saw nothing special.

Now, there is a fair amount of light pollution in my area but that is what this is supposed to be filtering. So in that expectation, i do not deem this a success.

BUT, i am going to give myself more time with it and try it out in Dark Sky scenarios as well. If I change my opinion or find out I have been using it wrong (not sure how) I will post an update. So to be fair in that the problem could be behind the eyepiece (me), I am giving it 3 stars for now.

Comments about Celestron Ultra High Contrast Light Pollution Reduction Filter (1.25"):

I live in a suburb, with a street light in front of my house. I bought this to see DSO's better. It definitely reduces artificial light, but it also dims the celestial objects slightly, but the dimming is noticeable. I am using it with Celestron 25 mm & 32 mm Plossle eyepieces.

I had read great reviews about this from other folks. However, I would have to say that I am not impressed with its performance. To be fair, it might perform better if I was using it with better quality eyepieces.
