      SkyMaster DX 8x56: Excellent Binocular

      By Vincent

      About Me Casual/ Recreational

      Pros

      • Optical Quality
      • Quality Lenses
      • Strong Construction
      • Waterproof
      • Works Well With Glasses

      Cons

      • Fov A Bit Narrow

      Best Uses

      • Astronomy

Comments about Celestron Sky-Watcher 8x56 Binocular:

The SkyMaster DX 8x56 is outstanding for handheld astronomical viewing. The large objectives bring in a lot of light, and the low magnification keeps shakiness to a minimum (of course, bracing the binocular or viewing from a reclined position is best). The optics are clear and sharp, and the binocular feels solid and well constructed. My local astronomy shop scored huge points with me by recommending this binocular.

7x50 is the classic astronomy binocular, and this 8x56 is like a turbocharged 7x50. The only potential drawback, however, is that the 8x56's 5.8° field of view (FOV) might be a little narrow for new observers who are still learning the sky and how to starhop. For these observers, a 7x50 with a wider field of view (~7.5°) might be easier to use. For those upgrading from something like 7x35 and have experience finding stellar objects, this 8x56 is an excellent choice and could easily be the last handheld astro binocular you'll ever need.

Comments about Celestron Sky-Watcher 8x56 Binocular:

Purchased these binoculars for a camping and trip and was not disappointed in any way. Daytime views were sharp with excellent contrast even on gray cloudy days. Night view of the stars were breathtaking as well. They are a bit heavy for long term use and will tire your arms a bit but then again I like a little heft in my optics - reminds me there's real glass there. [...] I would recommend these binoculars and will return for future purchases.

Comments about Celestron Sky-Watcher 8x56 Binocular:

These binoculars are fantastic! We enjoy being outside often so we've used them for wildlife viewing. Have tried using them for stargazing and although they are good for that, disappointed that they did not come with the tripod mount as advertised, hence the 3 stars.

Best Value! The Celestron 8X56 Ultima DX Binoculars are the best piece of equipment an amateur astronomer can own. I've owned a few binos and must say these are my favorites. Light, sharp and bright. Daytime or nighttime, Take them everywhere, just the right size for observing and great for every day use too. Being waterproof and fog proof just adds more value!
