Comments about Roland PM-10 Personal Monitor Amplifier:

I bought this Amp to use at home in my apartment.. So I didn't need a lot of power.

Sounds great and is exactly what I needed.

One last thing, you have to place it carefully, because its not stereo. Otherwise it can be confusing when your Hihat sound is comming from a completly different corner..

          • Contemporary Praise Band

Comments about Roland PM-10 Personal Monitor Amplifier:

I'm the drummer for my contemporary praise band at my church. The church owns a TD-20 kit that we run in stereo. The problem until I sprung for this monitor was that I/we could never get monitoring of the kit in stereo so I'd hit one cymbal, hear it through the mono monitor and then the other cymbal could not be heard, etc. Now, we run 1/4 cables from each of the stereo direct box outs into the two ins on this monitor. BTW, the two inputs on this monitor work great for this application. Don't be concerned that each input is specially marked as "drums" and the other as "CD player" etc. I can now hear the whole kit in stereo through the monitor and it sounds amazing. Highs of the cymbals are crisp and the kick and toms are fat; it has a tweeter mounted in the center of the woofer. The only complaint...and this is not really fair to Roland but...I wish the angle of the speakers was a little more pronounced. We place the monitor at the edge of the stage so the front guys and the bass player as well as backup singers can get good monitoring from the drums to hold us together. I say it is not fair to Roland because the monitor wasn't designed for the application in which we are implementing; it was designed as a personal monitor for the drummer. An easy fix is to put something underneath it to prop it up a bit so that the speakers are more directional back towards the back of the stage rather than pointing so straight up to the front guys. Each channel has uncoupled volume and EQ knobs though the EQ is basic: add some treble or add some bass but I've found that running the EQ straight up and down at 12 o'clock sounds really good. The built-in handle is great for cartage; makes it super easy to lug around and it is a PERMANENT handle built into the unit as opposed some plastic or metal piece of junk that has potential for breaking off. I also like that the handle design makes it super easy to grab onto. No moving parts. If you're considering the PM30 over this monitor I'm sure it sounds ever more amazing but realize that the PM30 is more than 3 times the cost and I somehow doubt it sounds 3 times as good.

Comments about Roland PM-10 Personal Monitor Amplifier:

if you do not need to play "loud" sometimes then it is perfect for practice and garage gigs but I expected more from Roland. Do not be surprised when discover that even cheap headphones sound much more pleasant. The PM-30 - step up model is too expensive. Strange... and in the description they did not mention Roland TD9 model as a compatible drum set. Why? Is this amplifier too primitive and not good enough for more expensive drum sets?

Comments about Roland PM-10 Personal Monitor Amplifier:

Absoulutly fantastic monitor! I upgraded from cheap 10 watt guitar amp that came with my guitar. It just kept on lasting until it was time to step up and what a step up it was!
You can feel your chest rumble when you use a kick drum and everything sounds so pristine and natural. Love the dedicated EQ section just to suit your needs.
I don't use this with a Roland kit and it still works like a dream.
              Absoulutly Brilliant!

Comments about Roland PM-10 Personal Monitor Amplifier:

I bought this monitor for the Roland V-Lite drums that I purchased from B&H. I use it to play with a piano and singer/acoustic guitar player at a small church and also smaller cocktail lounge settings. It has enough volume for these venues and the type of music we play. The controls are simple and adjustments for volume, treble and bass are quick to adjust. If you are playing with larger more amplified instruments you might want to consider the PM 30 with 200 watts as the PM 10 has 30 watts. Hope this helpful
