Comments about Echo AudioFire 12 Interface:

There aren't many AD/DA converters in this price range that are this straight forward. I did not want a converter with any additional bells & whistles, just straight to the point and high quality, which gives me more flexibility with my outboard gear. The AudioFire 12 delivers exactly what I needed, and took nearly no set up time.My experience shopping with B&H was great; I ordered online, and picked up in the store without having to wait. I will definitely look to them for my next pro audio purchase.

Comments about Echo AudioFire 12 Interface:

This purchase replaced a pair of LAYLA24's with a pair of AudioFire12's to extend my audio channels from 16 to 24. I've owned and used nearly all of Echo's consumer audio interface products and they have never let me down. As a musician with a small project studio and small budget, I've found the AudioFire12's as well as my other Echo gear affordable and reliable. They sound great and are simple to use. I do however, wish Echo had improved their provided 'Mixer' apps and driver sharing features, before deciding to discontinued much of this product line. There's not likely to be any improvement in this area now.

I bought two of these to provide a way to play samples. I needed at least 20 analog channels and didn't want to fool around with DACs and other hardware. I replaced two 1010LT sound cards. It was a flawless conversion, no problems and there is a noticeable difference in the clarity and dynamic range. I an not in the studio business but rather using these in a digital sampled organ.

Comments about Echo AudioFire 12 Interface:

In its essence, this product is simple.
              12 1/4" input
              12 1/4" outpt

it has, of course, some different features such as MIDI I/O, Word Clock settings...read about anything else, but there isn't anything ground breaking beyond the fact that this beast can run

12 in and out lines of one of the most popular input forms in history, the 1/4".

So I use it as a secondary interface to handle all of my 1/4" work and some other stuff and then run a main board Fast Track Ultra 8r...

similar device but works different, has more features.

The software mixer, for instance, will not turn your eyes into jelly ; it's basic.
My prime interface has digital I/O, MIDI I/O, 8in8out, dual XLR or 1/4" inputs, 2 instrument inserts...etc, and the software mixer is way more user 'friendly'.

BUT for what it does, like transmit the signals it was built to transmit, it does it WELL!

So I'm very happy I got this, it just opened up so many more channels( pun intended?).

PS. Watch out for the firewire port! Research it, as it is Mac (apple!) based generally or it may need a desktop with a special PCI card installed.

Comments about Echo AudioFire 12 Interface:

These are fabulous units. I have two of them that I use to connect to my protools 9 setup on my macbook retina. What is great about these is that they are the most cost effective 12 channel converters out there. If you are like me and have a great console, you dont want a unit with a bunch of preamps because that is what my console is for. I have both of mine setup with my TAC Scorpion that I have been slowly modding channels on over the years. I have a lot of upgrades from Jim Williams and others so I want to leverage the character of the console. I dont need preamps I simply want to transfer data bidirectionally which this does. Below is my configuration.Unit 1: TAC Channels 1-12. Unit 2: TAC channels 13-16 & Groups 1-8The only criticism I have is that the FW is rather dated. It really should be at the least FW800. Inexpensive to change and would increase throughput. I would love it if Echo came out with an adapter or mod kit to go to Thunderbolt, USB3 and\or FW800. Still for the money its a hard thing to beat and it works as beautifully as it looks.

This piece was a cinch to install after my old Delta 1010 croaked. All the inputs even came up perfectly in Sonar just like they were on my 1010!

It sounds fabulous and is nice and simple.
Just add some quality pre's and be creative musically.

I've been a long time Echo Audio user, and needed more channels. Took a chance on the AudioFire12... I was slightly nervous about firewire stability issues on Windows. Two weeks in, and the interface is rock solid. New custom build PC with a TI Chipset Firewire card, Windows 7 64bit, Core i5, 8GB RAM, and it's rock solid.

The audiofire 12 is probably the best bang for buck out there. Very clear sound, crisp cymbals, hihat good 3d depth when using an external word clock. If you can't make a record with one of these you probably have bigger problems than your interface. For $ you really can't go rong. It blows away my old mackie onyx 1640i in the converter department although you will need some good preamps.

Comments about Echo AudioFire 12 Interface:

Recently bought this unit to up-grade my studio set up, I run all 12 channels throught my mixer and have tracked a few sessions and the sound quality is really good, heck i've settled on sounds that were this good in past mixes this thing just delivers great sound right off the bat so the mixes sound better and come together faster, for the folks that like to dial in the direct sound at the board instead of capturing (it all), i feel this is were it shines. the meters on the front are a big help when your across the room and notice that the channel is just a little to hot, also the sound quality at that point is still very good, i like to run the kick drum near clipping to get the most i can out of it and this allows me that flexability, my only wish for this unit would be if you could view the console part of the software at the same time as a mix without it stopping the program.

Comments about Echo AudioFire 12 Interface:

I use the Audiofire 12 as my main interface for my home / project studio setup (used with various DAW's on both Mac and PC) and can't wait to get another to daisy chain and expand my i/o's. You won't find a better sounding interface with this number of analog i/o's in this price range and Echo seems to be focused on customer support in offering great sounding A/D D/A conversion and quality updates to their driver software and firmware (this was a major issue for me with other brand equipment that I have used in the past). If you have a console, high quality preamps, or some other form of front end for your recording - and you are seeking a great sounding, high quality interface that fits an "on a budget" price - look no further! Visiting Echo's website and installing latest drivers when you first setup and use the Audiofire is highly recommended. And B&H is the place to buy with the best price, excellent customer service, and quick shipping. You will not be disappointed!

Its real simple to hook up and install, dont use the drivers that it comes with download new drivers esp for 64bit machines. A/D converters are pretty good. Running with the right computer you can process audio in live situation and record on all the leftover tracks to get amazing live recordings and run plug ins for effects in a gig situation with only 2ms of latency which is not noticable. worth every penny

Easy to use, does exactly what you need it to do. No fancy extra inputs and outputs that you don't need. Fantastic for the money. The software worked no problem on startup and there is no added latency to the audio signal.

Comments about Echo AudioFire 12 Interface:

I have a home studio, I basically do remixing.

The unit looks nice, no knobs (thought that would be a problem, but nope) well built, professional.

Sound is very pristine, almost too much at first, you get use to it after a few hours. Lots of headroom, almost too much.

Easy to use software. Had a few probs with the drivers, tends to crash win7 (BSOD), but running on legacy from OS it works fine.

Comments about Echo AudioFire 12 Interface:

I didn't need all the features of the fireface, I have an analog console with mic pres and headphone capability.

I did need more inputs and outputs so I can mix outside the box.

The AudioFire 12 fit the bill. I was a little skeptical about the conversion quality, but after doing a shootout between my RME Fireface and the AudioFire, I don't hear enough of a difference to concern me. Tests were done at 44.1k and 88.2k.

I will be eventually buying a second AudioFire 12 to complement my MCI JH-24 24 track tape deck.

The price is quite nice too :-)
