Before I bought this amplifier, I would have to connect my headphones (Sennheiser HD201 and eH350) to my desktop speaker's headphone output each time I wanted to use them (late at night, for example). In order to get roughly the same listening volume through my headphones, I'd have to really crank up the volume knob on my speakers (they take a lot of power compared to your typical earbuds). With the HA400, I can keep my headphones and speakers connected all the time. When I want to use my headphones, I just turn down the volume control for the port my speakers are connected to and turn up the volume for my headphones (and vice versa to use the speakers again). This amplifier really lets me enjoy my headphones.
The amplifier seems really well built and solid. The input/outputs are all 1/4" stereo connectors (could be a con for some, but I have a bunch of 1/4"-1/8" adapters already, so it's not a problem for me). The only thing that I feel it's really lacking is a power switch, but in reality, that's not a big deal to me. All in all, I highly recommend.

As someone who is not "technically inclined" ( about all I can do is "plug it in" & pray)--this item fits my criteria to a "tee". ("Plug it in & listen"). I needed a unit that would afford guests in my "homemade" studio--the opportunity to listen to the program they were contributing to without giving up MY headphones and the "Headpphone Amplifier" does just that (of course the Guests need to supply their own headphones):)--but now I have the unit for which they can plug in & listen--and considering I'm the one who's writing this--that's what it's all about--and yes, the quality is great as well.

Comments about Behringer HA-400 - Headphone Amplifier:
- Got tired of using heavy cordless headphones for my TV and needed an amp to boost my corded headphone volume. This amp allows me and my wife to have two seperate volume controls. Great job
- We also find that the amp seems to also reduce noise altho this could just be me...and nothing in the spec says that they have noise cancellation. Overall sound clarity has improved tremendously, though..
- If I HAVE to be picky I would say that maybe the volume controls can be less sensitive. Other than that, its hard to find fault with this amp, especially for my use

This headphone amp provides crystal clear audio without sacrificing the quality of the original feed. This is the first headphone amp I've ever used and I'm pleasantly satisfied. There are certainly better ones on the market, but for the price, this is a superb buy.

This is perfect for our lectures, I have used this as a audio splitter, I use pre amplifier out put as a input and get 4 outputs. Which we used for our olympus DS70 audio recorder, monitor amplifier, video camera, and live broadcasting device. I get perfect noise less audio, as I can control volume can give us freedom to improve audio quality. This is a perfect compact device. We have 8 channel rack mount audio splitter which is fixed, This unit can be use as mobile unit. Provides more freedom/flexibility. As the features price is also workable.

We have two sets of head phones and this little thing allows my wife and me to hear TV at an acceptable volume level for her and for me. She or I can watch TV late without bothering me or her.
You can't go wrong with this product. You will need a cable from the TV audio output to the HA-400 - Headphone Amplifier by Behringer; and the plugs are full size.

This purchase was a gift for a friend; but, I already had one anyway. I use my headphone amp every time a songwriter(s) comes over to record. Further, I have BUNCHES of Behringer stuff. I use them all quite frequently and don't know what I'd do without them!

Using this between my headset (Razer Tiamat 2.2) and my computer. Works insanely well, best $ ever spent. Before my headset was kinda quiet compared to other sets I have had, now it hits harder than any of them without loss in clarity. I'd recommend this.Going to see if it adds any more power to my 200w Logitech THX system next. ;)

Comments about Behringer HA-400 - Headphone Amplifier:
I was looking for a handy device to split the headphone output. The purpose: recording vocals at my home studio, while I monitor the tracks.I couldn't find a passive split solution, so went for a splitter with active circuit in it.HA-400 is very affordable piece of hardware. I like its sturdy construction. It is small to fit well in a small corner on my desk. 1 to 4 split is more than I needed. Individual volume control is really nice. The sound character changes a bit one way or another, but the difference is very small in my case (Quad Capture and Shure SRH 840). I bet my vocalist will never notice it. :)Overall, HA-400 is pretty good for its price. One piece of advice, HA-400 does not come with any audio cable. You might need to purchase a cable separately to connect HA-400 to your audio interface (which can be easily forgotten at the checkout).

not sure why I waited so long to get this powerful and affordable little gizmo. It works better than I expected. It makes my audio nice and loud and clean when I am trying to record voice overs. I only turn the volume up half way and it is almost too loud when using headphones. I am very pleased.

Comments about Behringer HA-400 - Headphone Amplifier:
Overall I am happy with my purchase and for infrequent use its great. I use it when I record rock bands and all of the players want to hear the recording. Before I used a passive headphone splitter but that was cumbersome and we had to take turns. Now all the members can listen to the playback at once and adjust the volume to their liking. Also, not all headphones have the same impedance and therefor different volumes at the same output level.
My two complaints are, first the amplifier part isn't that impressive. You need to have the dialed turned 75% of the way over for normal audio level compared to the input device. This only gives you maybe a 30% gain ability. After setting 9 on the dial it starts to get noisy.
My second complaint is that it only comes with 1/4in jacks as opposed to dual 1/4 1/8 inch. This means you need headphone adapters and I soldered my own 1/4-1/8inch converter cable to use with my laptop soundcard. Also, I have used this with the Samson G-track which has a 1/8in output. Overall it has been very helpful.

I use this as a no-frills way to have band practice in an apartment. I run all the instruments into a mixer and then send the mix to this amp. Each band member plugs their headphones in, and we rock out. Sure, it's not ideal, and no one has the ability to tailor their individual mix, but this thing only cost me [$]
