These two mid-sized speakers provide clean and clear sound through digital hook up. they support up to 192kHz which is the highest most of us will ever need. The wattage is sufficient for most applications such as gaming, playing music and checking our your digital recordings. Don't be supprised if you begin to notice the limitations of your mp3 and m4a files. These puppies are meant for the highest quality audio from cd's and recorded with high-end sound recording audio interfaces. It works well with my entry-level EMU 0404 usb 2.0 audio interface device. (although i'm not sure i would recomend this device but thats not what this review is about). Expect booming bass and crystal clear treble and to really hear the difference between compressed audio and the best sampling. These are somewhat heavy and will arrive in a rather large box about 4-4.5ft by 2.5ft by 2ft (ruff estimate). they weigh like 25 pounds together

I use these speakers for video editing. I needed something with good sound and volume. These speakers delivered. I also like that you have 2 inputs and seperate volume control if you wanted to mix 2 different sounds. The sound is good and crisp for the price range. Nice look too. Only thing bad about them is the air that pushes through, but that is only if you are really cranking them up. Tested them out with [@] and CD. Outside of that these speakers are solid.

    Comments about Behringer MS40 - 2-Way 40-Watt 24-bit/192kHz Hybrid Nearfield Monitors - Pair:

These are nice compact inexpensive powered speakers with nice features like optical input, 2-band EQ and front headphone output - a good deal for the price - I'm satisfied. I use them as monitors for video editing but I don't do critical audio on them.Though loud enough, the sound quality is just a TINY bit "twonky" or "plasic-y" meaning that it sounds just a little like you can hear that the speakers have plastic cones. That is, it sounds like they do not perfectly reproduce some dynamics (mainly the bass and treble tones are a tiny bit "plastic-y" sounding, but again not annoying) - it's a tiny bit noticeable, though not bad, but they're probably not good as real reference monitors, though they are good for non-critical listening. They're a decent deal for the money and I'm satisfied, but my co-worker's M-Audio AV-40 speakers (their direct competition) sound about 10-15% better, but have fewer features, like no EQ and no optical input. Having EQ control was the main decision point for me. If they sounded as good overall as the M-Audio AV-40's they'd be a better deal than those, but as it is they are both about equal overall for the price. It depends on whether you want to sacrifice 10-15% sound quality to get EQ, optical input, or other non-shared features.

These speakers ROCK for real. I didn't expect them to sound so clean for the price.I think theres are the best speaker in there class and are WELL worth the price.I'm using them in a Multi Media room to monitor sound on my video editing.I think the tweeter's are a little on the light side but I just reduced the bass and there perfect .When I play a mp3 its really clean.I ran them overnight a very low volume with mp3's running to "Break" Them I have always done this because you should let woofers bound on a low volume. I would also like to commend B&H for there amazing customer service.

Before I had these speakers, I had Alesis M1520 usb monitors. They were great, but I had to sell them unfortunate. As soon as I saved enough money, I decided to give another brand a shot and Behringer, Yamaha, and M-Audio came to mind. After seeing the features and prices of the other brands, I noticed the prices were either high or the features and interface was not as great. So, I chose Behringer and I'm satisfied to get a much more clear sound for my mixes. I can adjust the bass and treble to emulate how it would sound in the car. I even use my monitors for my tv sometimes. It's a great so far me all around, especially when you can go still go analog with the rca outputs. It's worth buying for a musician/producer/engineer on a budget.

I bought these Behringer speakers because I needed an audio reference that I can trust for producing video with Final Cut Pro. I liked the specs. The description looked good. The price was reasonable and the brand seems respected. I am happy with the purchase.I lament that I cannot hear audio the way I see images. I can look at a photo with nothing else to compare it to and tell you everyone that is right and wrong about the value distribution, color balance, etc. However, I am not trained to do so with audio. Only if I hear two samples in succession can I tell that one is superior. So, I am trusting that these Behringer speakers are exactly what I need for a neutral reference They sound better than the Apple Soundsticks (with Subwolfer) that I spent $ . on 12 years ago at almost twice the price of these speakers today. What I like about the Behringer speakers:Fit and finish looks very good.Appears professional to my clients.Appears to be well built.Has multiple inputs including TosLink. (I connect direct to a MacPro via fiber optic link)At 20w/channel, plenty of volume to fill a small room at half scale.Product arrived on time in adequate packaging.Sound is very good as far as I can tell but bear in mind that I am trusting itsince I am not yet an audio expert. So, 5 start with that reservation.

                        Comments about Behringer MS40 - 2-Way 40-Watt 24-bit/192kHz Hybrid Nearfield Monitors - Pair:

They sound good. Bass and treble controls allow you to make them sound ok for listening to mp3s and other computer audio. When it is time to record set the tone controls so the speakers sound flat, the way they should be. Then edit the mixes so they sound good. If you want more bass, you can add a subwoofer, but your mixes might end up muddy with too much artificial sound. The volume can only go up around half way, without distorting the sound, but they are still moderately loud.
I like having the headphone jack and the controls on the front.
Having the ports on the front is good to keep it from bouncing off the walls and trapping it in a corner. On the face of both speakers, the bass holes are on the right side and the tweeters on the left, but not too noticeable with minor adjustments.
Reviewers were right about air leaking out the front plate and headphone jack, but I can't say it does any damage to the sound. But, sometimes they seem to sound a bit like plastic. I would have preferred Kevlar cones. They look nice but a grill would look better and add protection.
Put them on foam pads so they don't send vibrations out to the desk, or scratch it.
All in all, they are very nice for an entry level home studio.

                        Comments about Behringer MS40 - 2-Way 40-Watt 24-bit/192kHz Hybrid Nearfield Monitors - Pair:

I use this as a near field monitor at a distance of about 4-6 feet. Don't expect massive bass and you will not be disappointed. It is accurate enough for professional musicians, but probably not for recording studio type use. I like the volume and tone controls and multiple inputs. Can't beat it for the money.

After reading several positive reviews on this speaker as a home recording studio speaker I decided to give it a whirl. The speaker is a decent speaker and fairly clear, but missing a ton of crispness that a powered speaker delivers. Don't be fooled by first time home studio musicians, for home recording there is still no match for a set of powered speakers. Yeah, you'll spend more but your recordings will be more flat with an unbeatable clean sound.

I use these to edit video/audio. They sound great and look good too.

They somewhat big, I have a big desk and can fit them. I bought them for sound quality and they do that very well.
