Considering the specs, features, and accessories, I was skeptical of getting anything really usable at this price -- it's almost like a TV huckster pitch -- but after reading so many positive reviews, I decided to get a pair of these for occasional use as external mics on an H4n portable recorder. Their size is very convenient for portability, since both fit in the fairly small case. So far, I've only used them for recording live bands in clubs -- X/Y pattern on the included stereo mount -- but for that, they work great! As others have reported, I've found them to have a pretty flat response and a natural sound with little coloring. The output level and sensitivity are lower than a pair of large-diaphragm MXL condensers I have, but not so low as to be a problem -- in fact, that's great for loud sources, anyway, and I haven't needed to use the pad yet (but that's a nice feature if I ever do need it). If you're looking for inexpensive mics but don't want to get stuck with junk, grab these. Five stars for the amazing bargain, and B&H has the best deal.

I bought the C-2's cause of the price and it had some good ratings too. I used these for mainly recording percussion sounds for my tracks. They sound good not great but for $50-60 bucks who cares. There also great for alternate recording like field sounds and even string instruments. There have a good flat sound, hey if your not feeling them spend another $50s on the SM-57(you should have it in your mic collection anyway!)

      The C-2 for Film Production

Comments about Behringer C-2 Stereo Matched Studio Condenser Microphones:

I bought these after reading about their potential use as a dialogue boompole microphone by a professor of film in New York. As an independent filmmaker, I'm always trying to get the best bang for my (limited) buck. It's fairly easy to find a decent shotgun microphone for not too much money, but it's much harder to find a decent hypercardioid for less than $500. So I took a chance and tried these. And I'm very glad I did. The Behringer C-2 does a creditable job for recording dialogue indoors. After a few weeks of testing it, I'm very pleased with the clean, clear adudio I'm capturing with the C-2. This is good quality for very little cost.

Comments about Behringer C-2 Stereo Matched Studio Condenser Microphones:

Read all comments and went for it. Had small lingering worry about performance recording a live rock band because I hadn't read read any reviews that covered that. However, last night I used them to record my R&R 3 piece playing in a Baltimore bowling alley and with the mics placed high and fairly close, front and center on the provided mount ( \__/ ), they did a very nice job, clean and accurate enough for demo and enjoyable later listening. Lows, mids and high all captured and reasonably represented. I am using an ART USB Dual Pre and a decrepit linux notebook running Audacity, if your a cheapskate like me.

Comments about Behringer C-2 Stereo Matched Studio Condenser Microphones:

              I did the following experiment:
I played a song through my monitors, placed the microphones 1 meter away from the speaker and recorded. Then I played the recording through the speakers (note that any speaker non-linearities are added twice) and compared the sound.

I was impressed - it came out very similar to the original. The high-mids slightly emphasized and it seems a tight reverb was added, which I guess is expected since the speaker is next to a wall.

The sensitivity is a bit low, requiring me to increase the gain on my Behringer Xenyx X1204USB. This results in a quiet but audible noise at idle.

The mics come with quite solid holders and a separator if you'd like to place them close to each other. The setup is stable enough to place on a desk or a piano, but you'd likely need a tripod/mic stand.

This matched set of small diaphragm mics sound good, They won't fool you into thinking that they cost $300 a pair but for [$] they do a petty darn good job.I got them because of the low price and was shocked that they sounded as good as they do. You get a true stereo image and they capture most acoustic instruments pretty well. They are solidly built and their small size lends well to spot mic placement.

I needed to add the sounds of our congregation to my audio ministry CDs & our website inexpensively. These mics are wonderful. There are better sounding mics out there, but not for [$] for 2 mics! Behringer has kind of scared me off in the past with their super-low prices, figured I'd be buying junk. While these mics appear to be nowhere near as rugged as some higher cost ones, in my application of stationary use I see no problems arising.

This is the second pair of these that I've bought. I've become an ardent proponent of Behringer products, and these C-2 mikes demonstrate why: they sound good, are small and unobtrusive, and are priced low.
I've used them singly and, using the included bar, have begun experimenting with binaural setups.
                      Great mikes for the money!

I am a home studio owner. I record myself and my band. Which means recording drums vocals and guitar. I use this mic for all three. They work well as overheads. They pick up everything and the sound is very clear. These mic's especially shine when used for acoustic guitar. The roll off really comes in handy for this. Everything is clear but theres not too much high end. It picks up everything and gives you an accurate reproduction of the sound you hear. It gives vocals a cool sound as well being stereo and all. It gives them a real fullness. Overall for what your paying this product goes above and beyond. Everything that is included is made very well. I expect it to last. Only issue with this product is that the stereo bar doesn't fit on a normal mic stand. You would need an adapter of some sort.

Well, there's probably a few better sounding microphones out there. For this price however it's a no-brainer. If you are about to record a band in the home studio and have a few mikes, but need some more for that background guitar or extra drums, these are great. Their best feature is actually the tightly focused polar pattern. I recorded some guitar/ vocal tracks and the vocals had almost no bleed to the gutar track. The sound lacks a bit of dynamics. Some tube pre-amp emulation in the recording program adds extra juice, enough for typical background tracks. The metal construction quality is excellent.

Great addition to my home studio. So far I've only used these guys for a stereo spread on a Young Chang U-212 piano. Needless to say, I was impressed with the quality of sound that comes out of these little guys. I plan on testing them as overheads for drums too, yet I have not tested them out yet for that.

                            Cons:
                            * Wish the included stereo bar used a larger/standard thread size because now I need an adapter to make it work with my mic stands.

                            * Very affordable
                            * Good bang for buck / sound quality for price range

Comments about Behringer C-2 Stereo Matched Studio Condenser Microphones:

Overall this mic package is excellent. It comes with 2 matched stereo condenser microphones. The package comes with a plastic hard case that holds the mics and everything else listed below. The kit comes with 2 windscreens for the mics, two mic holders (they're plastic, but decent), and a stereo mounting plate, so you can mount these two mics to record stereo sound. All of this fits into a hard case with foam cutouts, so there is a place for everything, and everything is protected.

I looked and I couldn't find a better mic deal. I am not an audiophile, however I can tell you I have tried recording with a USB microphone and a microphone with a 3.5mm plug, and both of these other methods produced a fairly noisy signal. I had to constantly use the noise reduction filter on Audacity to clean up my recordings before proceeding with the rest of the processing. With these mics and an audio interface (USB Dual Pre - USB 1.1) that has low noise preamps and phantom power, there is very low to no noise present. I don't need to do noise reduction on every single recording anymore. That in itself makes this worth the price.

The mic has switch that allows you to select either 1) no change to the signal, 2) a low frequency noise reduction filter built into the mic or 3) a -10dB attenuator in case you have a projecting-type singer or instrument.

I did quite a bit of research on lower cost, but decent mics, and I bought these because the quality seemed decent, and it allows room for stereo recording when I decide to try that. (Right now I just use one to record my instrument as a mono signal). I currently keep one at home for home recording, and the 2nd I keep with my laptop bag for when I play my alto recorder for a local senior center at lunch time.

These are a perfect fit if you have or purchase a two channel audio interface for your computer or laptop. This will allow you to record 2 channel stereo with both mics, or record one voice and one instrument. I record my alto recorder (woodwind instrument) with one mic, and I use my laptop to create accompaniment by playing MIDI files.

The mics are smaller and compact, so I don't feel like I'm playing my recorder into the end of a howitzer. They may be considered small for singers, but the sound quality is great.

The mics have a solid build quality about them. These mics just do what they are supposed to do, and for the price they are hard to beat. From what I have read and researched, you would have to buy a mic costing hundreds more to get better quality.

So if you just want a basic home audio studio, these mics work great. I would highly recommend these mics to anyone with fairly basic needs.

Look, they're [$] for the pair. Are they perfect? I don't know - my room sounds way to bad to worry about slight inadequacies in a microphone. When I listen to stuff I've recorded with these, I hear mediocre playing in a terrible sounding room. I don't hear imperfections in the mics. Someday if I have a nice room I'll think about spending more money on mics, until then these are fine.

For the money, I'm pretty sure this mic cannot be beat! It looks sharp, is very well built, and produces amazing sound for the price. The response curve is fairly flat, and tends to give a nice warmth to acoustic instruments (especially guitars). There's a small amount of noise in the signal, but it's only noticeable when compared to mics that cost 8-10 times as much.
The stereo bar and included mounts alone are worth the cost of this package! Behringer really found a golden balance of price and quality with these mics. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for decent quality mics at an amazing price!

I bought the C-2's cause of the price and it had some good ratings too. I used these for mainly recording percussion sounds for my tracks. They sound good not great but for $50-60 bucks who cares. There also great for alternate recording like field sounds and even string instruments. There have a good flat sound, hey if your not feeling them spend another $50s on the SM-57(you should have it in your mic collection anyway!)

o.k, they're not Neumanns- but they are just fine for my home recording setup. They are well matched, have a very good sound, include -10db and low frequency rolloff switches, and came in a nice carrying case with windscreens, mic holders, and an X-Y mount for stereo recording. I have miked drums overhead, and guitar at the neck and soundhole positions- the mics really sound good!
I know some people have questioned Behringer's quality control consistency. However, I have purchased other Behringer products- (I did have to return their "Echo Machine" guitar effect box because of a bad potentiometer, but the replacement has worked perfectly)! So, for the money, I feel Behringer products are a good investment. If you have a pro studio, you will have to upgrade to the high dollar stuff; but for us regular home recorders, these mics are a great value! I will buy other Behringer products.
