I bought the 10X25 Prostaff for my father (80 years old). He plan to go to the "Moulin Rouge Cabaret" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moulin_Rouge for Christmas, he lives in France. The optic is really outstanding for the price, crystal clear, I wanted him to be sure to see the show. They are easy to use with glasses, solid and very light. The field is good and it is easy to have a close-up view too. It made for a really great gift, I know, he already received it.

Optically in the center these are excellent, almost as sharp as quality full-size binos. Certainly in daylight they are adequately bright but fall off rapidly at dusk. I'm an eyeglass wearer and releif was not an issue, nor staying on point to what you are viewing, often an issue with subcompacts. They appear well made for the price and reasonably sturdy. Twist out eyecups are nice and the click right eye adapter worked well and would see to stay in place. Size is a little bulky but unit does appear fairly rugged. Now the downsides. I'm used to full size binoculars (Nikon 7x35E and Nikon 8x32 SE and the depth of field is noticeably narrower, perhaps I could get used to it). Biggest problem is glare and in most angles outside, further deteriorating the field of view. I suppose a 3rd detraction is that the sharpeness is not edge to edge but most of the time one would focus on the center. Well worth the money, [...] if you can live with the glare issue. I couldn't.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:
I use this binocular for hiking, traveling, and for boating. For serious boating you really need a 7x50, or maybe one of the stabilized products, but I like to have the Nikon in my bag because I don't own my own boat. And the ProStaff is actually waterproof!
The view through this binocular is about as good as you can get in an 8x25, bright and sharp. Actually better than my old 7x35. Construction feels rock solid and the design details are really well done.
* Turn-to-raise eye cups are more convenient and longer-lasting than fold-down rubber cups. Since you don't fold them you don't change the diameter of the eyepiece when adjusting, and that means the eyepiece lens cover fits whether they are up or down.
* The eyepiece lens cover is a single piece that covers both eyepieces, but it flexes in the middle so that it fits regardless of how the interpupil distance is adjusted. It can be attached to the strap so you don't have keep track of the cover when you remove it.
* The right eye adjuster is fairly hard to move and the gripper for moving it is not easily bumped. Once adjusted, it tends to stay put.

Really nice to have waterproof binoculars, wish they'd put some larger knobs on the diopter to be able to grip and use and focus with. Other wise the optics are really nice.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:
This has the same optics as the Travelite, but in a tougher, waterproof casing that adds a bit of weight. They are still quite compact, and they are a better choice for active use - I have had a pair of travelites for many years, and they have had to go back to Nikon to be realigned twice after very minor bumps.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:
I use these binoculars for observing the shoreline and wildlife from on board a boat. They are the perfect magnification, and give a stunningly sharp image- very crisp and clean. Since I use them in a wet environment, the waterproof nature is critical, and so far, after 2 months of hard use, I've been very happy with the fog-free lenses. Nice and lightweight. I like these a lot!

Comments about Nikon 8x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:
I use these binos for target archery, so distances out to about 50 yards. At those ranges, clear, clean images. They are compacts, so they are not as bright as full sized binos with larger lenses, and it takes a bit more effort to make certain the light from the lenses is directly into my eyes. Rugged and light weight makes for easy use. As far a compacts go, good Nikon binos at a good price.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:
These are very good binoculars. To start with they are waterproof and fog proof which means that you have use of them for all four seasons of the year. And it means that you need not worry about going from a warm car to a cold meadow and vice versa causing condensation. They are of a wonderful compact size and very light weight so they are no burden at all in pocket, backpack or jacket.
Their small size make it ideal for sharing nature, sports and the arts with your family because they fit children's hands quite well. As mentioned they are very lightweight so they're not fatiguing to use even one-handed.
These 8 x 25 binoculars are a very good intermediate power. It can be frustrating for someone thinking that the higher power of 10 X, 12 X or even higher is the best deal. The higher the power, unfortunately the less stable the image. This 8X is just right for those unaccustomed to binocular use.
Of some importance, especially if you are sharing these with a family member who does or does not wear eyeglasses, are the retractable eye cups. This approach is much superior to the fold over rubber used on some scopes. They operate smoothly, quickly and dependably. The center focus makes one-handed use quite simple and there is no slippage when the image is found and focused.
These binoculars have a nonslip coating that works well under conditions where the waterproof feature comes to play.
The 25 mm lens gives a bright and consistent image and no chromatic aberration has been noticed.
Of course the fact that Nikon guarantees these for life, no matter what happens, is a wonderful selling point.
These 8 x 25 classes are a fine traveling companion and a good intermediate for someone who would like to experience binoculars before committing to a more serious pair.

A product is only as good as it is useful. As far as bins go this product is one you will want to keep with you any time you are out,its small size won't get in your way and its optics are very good. Smooth focusing and solid quality feel with the added benefit of waterproofing are benefits you'll find useful. The magnification I chose was to ensure stability and the F.O.V. complements this. The price was fair considering the quality and the mfgr. Warranty[...]

Excellent lightweight, go-anywhere pair of binoculars. I wanted a small pair for spotting polar bears, whales and birds in the Arctic while driving zodiacs - and they are perfect for this job!! They only drawback is the reflection you get on the bottom of the eyepieces in bright conditions with the eye cups extended. But this is a minor distraction.

These are great binoculars, very light and small, easy to grab and go and take on a hike or geocaching and not weigh you down around your neck or your backpack. Beautiful view so far through the lens. I use them for seeing birds, animals in the woods, my backyard and on a boat.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:
I got these to fulfill a need: to be a pair of binoculars which would work in the rain if necessary, and be portable. They work great for this, and I use them for wildlife viewing, and hunting. In fact I use them for wildlife viewing while hunting.
They're adequately rugged for me. The adjustable eyecups are a simple and functional feature which is new to me, and I like. The optics are obviously the reason to choose this vs. others - I have positive experience with Nikon riflescopes and expected similar from these optics. Indeed, they're clear. Not as clear or bright as units priced higher, but very clear for the price B&H puts on these. All in all, thumbs up.
