great clarity at an affordable price

      By RTH Watcher

Comments about Nikon 12x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:

We recently purchased these for bird watching larger raptors. They are great and very affordable. You get the clarity in the lens you expect from Nikon at an affordable price. They are a bit heavier than some of the other smaller models we compared, but very manageable and well worth it for the quality and being water and fog proof. Highly recommend.

Comments about Nikon 12x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:

I have two other pairs of Nikon binoculars, in 10x50 and 16x50. Just as with those the clarity of image of these is very, very good. I was hesitant to order these in 12x after reading some comments about image stability but I've found that I can hold them more still than I can the larger pairs and I have no trouble with them in this regard.
A negative comment I read in several reviews concerned the lens caps, in which several people felt they were too loose. I guess they hadn't figured out that if you just opened of closed the binoculars slightly after placing the caps on, it would create friction and keep the caps in place. By having the caps loosely fit over the eyepieces it is easier to get them off, and this is necessary given the rubber coating that helps keep them waterproof.
I have several other pairs of binoculars from competing manufacturers and I have to say that the Nikons that I have all provide a clearer image, and this little set is no exception. If I had purchased these before the other Nikons that I have I would not have needed the 10x50s at least, and certainly not those of other brands.
These are much brighter than the numbers lead you to believe also. In low light situations the clarity of the optics and the black painted interior of the binoculars goes quite a ways in making up for the smaller objective lens' ability to let in light.
These also work very well with my eyeglasses (and without). I am not a fan of fold down eye pieces, and the twist function of these makes it much easier to pass back and forth between family members who do not wear glasses.
To me this purchase was money well spent.

Comments about Nikon 12x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:

We already enjoy 8x and 10x birding binoculars, which are fine for birding. We wanted a light weight 12x that we could handle easily without tripods, etc. for longer distance viewing. These are perfect for what we needed... water proof, decent optics, close focus, light weight, a great warranty, and a really affordable cost. No one can go wrong with this binocular.

Comments about Nikon 12x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:

I use these for watching birds at the feeders and beyond, wildlife on the lake, and fishing boats out on the ocean. And even for watching waves smash into some rock islands five miles out-to-sea. They work very well and I am completely satisfied with them. I am particularly impressed with how clear and bright everything looks. And with how well they work for short distances.

Comments about Nikon 12x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:

Compared right up there with my brother-in-laws Leopold Gold Rings. Close focusing was their only negative. The Gold Rings can focus up to approx 4 feet. Brightness and sharpness of image was just as good from what I could tell. The Prostaff's are a very good product for the price.

Comments about Nikon 12x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:

This product is great for fishing. I always like taking binoculars when I go fishing. It is great not to have to worry about getting water in them. Nature presents beautiful scenery and animals when I go fishing and this allows me to enjoy the whole picture. They are compact and comfortable on the eyes. They weigh a little more than my Trvelites, but the waterproof seals are worth it. Their size is slightly larger than my Travelites. Great optics and the 12 power is very helpful as my eyes tire easily as I age. B & H has a great price and fast shipping.

The Prostaff 12x25 binocular is a wonderfully sharp, contrasty binocular. It is also brighter than expected. I am really quite surprised at just how bright it is since it is such a high power, small aperture device. It easily passes the 'Jupiter' test - Jupiter shows a well defined, round disk. Eyerelief is excellent. Focusing is precise and convenient. It balances well in the hands and has a nice tactile feel. All in all a keeper - a real winner.

Comments about Nikon 12x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:

I am planning to take the binoculars on a longer trip to Costa Rica. They will be used at the beach, on a boat and in the tropical rainforest so the main priority was for them to be water and fog proof. Additionally I was looking for a set of small and lightweight yet sturdy glasses as I don't like to be weighed down by heavy equipment on longer hikes and excursions. The Nikon ProStaff ATB binoculars seem to be the ideal solution for these requirements and I am very happy with the purchase and the competitive prize.

Comments about Nikon 12x25 ProStaff ATB Binocular:

After researching for three weeks, I could not get away from the great reviews on these binoculars. I was in the market for compact, lightweight, but with decent magnification. I felt 10x was a little short for my needs. So the 12x25 ProStaff ATB fit the bill.

Bright glass, focuses easily and sharply, and adjustable eye cups for relief.

Would recommend anyone looking for a compact 12x bino to purchase.

Needed small binoculars with decent magnification and it had to be good in low light situations. It also had to be of solid construction. Tall order, but this binocular fit the bill.

Perfect for observing animals - we have done photography on seven National Geographic trips and finally have good binoculars. Lightweight, very powerful, compact - fits easily into a coat pocket. Recommend very highly.

Before I got these binoculars, I was a bit concerend about shaking problems that could come with 12x maginification binoculars, but it turned out there were no problems. I spotted and looked at the climbers at Yosemite's El Capitan rock without any problems, I got a perfect sharp image. I watched Blue Angels air show at 2011 San Francisco Fleet Week, I could see pilots inside the cockpits. No shaking problems, AT ALL. These binoculars are built well. They feel solid in my hands. Overall they are very good product with great performance for the price. However, I'm not sure about their durability because they are made in China. But again the price is rather reasonable so I'd be satisfied if they give me five years of good service. I highly recommend these binoculars.

This is a great choice for travel or backpacking. Lightweight with a good grip and feel. Stable image. Eyecups rotate in and out, instead of the fold-back type, which is a nice feature. The collapsed position is good for eyeglass wearers or storage.
