International Orders*Nikon manufacturers several eyepieces for their premium Fieldscope line of spotting scopes, allowing the user quick changeovers with brilliant performance & a diverse selection of viewing options. The apparent viewing field on this eyepiece is a staggeringly-wide 72°, the same as its #7462 sibling, but this DS Series eyepiece was created as an alternative with digiscoping specifically in mind.
The DS Series will work with your digital camera with less chance of vignetting (darkening of the image's edges) than is the case with the normal fixed-magnification eyepieces, but also include a normal eyecup for traditional observing.
As with all digiscoping efforts, you'll need a sturdy tripod with a video-type pan/tilt head as well as a cable release or remote control for your camera if possible. Logical choices for a tripod/head combination are indicated here as accessories, with an ascending order in price & support.
Note! NOT for use with Fieldscope I.

Comments about Nikon 16x/24x/30x Wide DS Digiscoping Eyepiece:
I use my spotting scope for shooting and birdviewing, and this is the eyepiece that should come with it in my opinion.
Bright, great contrast and excellent eye relief, I should've bought this one initially rather than the 25-75X that's unusable above 40X and is much darker.

Comments about Nikon 16x/24x/30x Wide DS Digiscoping Eyepiece:
Got this wide-angle eyepiece as it is required to do digiscoping with the Nikon 82mm ED Spotting Scope and Nikon Coolpix P300 Digital Camera.
Also excellent for birdwatching because of the wide-angle view. The only trade-off is that you could zoom with this eyepiece.

Comments about Nikon 16x/24x/30x Wide DS Digiscoping Eyepiece:
I bought this eye piece mainly for birding. It is only 16x power but find it is usually adequate and the lower power enables a brighter image, more eye releif, and has a wide angle of view. I lead bird trips and I wanted an easy eye piece to look through by members in the group. I have gotten many compliments on how clear & bright image is. I haven't tied digiscoping with it yet though that is not my main purpose. I am using this with Nikon Fieldscope ED50
