Solvents in standard markers can harm disk surfaces in the long term. These pens will not.
Not a great marker for other surfaces, but that's not the job it was designed to do.

Comments about Delkin Devices Archival Gold CD/DVD Pens (2):
The pens work OK one time, once you want to use again, the thicker felt tip is completely dried out. Then you have to use the thinner felt which is OK. So I suppose the manufacturer includes 2 pens so you can use one thinner felt tip applying more pressure to make a bolder inprint and the other pen tip with alighter touch for a thinner print.

Comments about Delkin Devices Archival Gold CD/DVD Pens (2):
This pen needs to be constructed with a much finer tip, that will fascilitate writing detailed small-lettered printing on the surface of the disc. The disk has very limited space to write on, thus necessitating a very fine-tipped pen!

These work great for marking up cds and dvds however I damaged one of the tips by not putting the cap on carefully enough.
