This is a heavy duty Speed Ring for the Westcott Octabank Softbox.
It allows Novatron Standard flash head (with non-removable reflector).

Mated to a Novatron flash head, this did not support a lightweight 12"x36" softbox.The problem is not with the ring, which mounts on the head in the only possible way, but with the head itelf: the grip on the tripod mount is not strong enough and gives way. If it won't support this small softbox, I doubt it would support anything.

I'm using this speedring with old Novatron location kit to mount a 24x32" Westcott Photo Basics Softbox. An excellent, inexpensive combination. I particularly like the fact that the speedring rotates; allowing me to change the coverage with little to no effort.
