I purchased this for a family member who plays the computer quite loud while watching movies.

These are fantastic at keeping the others in your house from hearing what the other is watching and or listening to, as they seal in most of the sound to only the person wearing them.

They are plenty loud as well so I recommend these to any one who may be in this same situation and have a family member who may be a bit hard of hearing. I my self tested them and they do sound quite good and have nice base response for there price.

I say for the price as I also own a pair of Sony 7506 pro headphones as well as AKG 240s, so this review comes from someone who has tested and owns many types of headphones.

While there's no comparison to those sound wise and construction wise, I have to be fair in my comparison as they are almost ten times the price, so for the money these in my opin are quite worth it not as comfy as the 7506s but if you just need a full size set of inexpensive headphones for your comp or standard music listening and don't want to bother others in your house, these should suite one well.

They also have a pretty durable cord that's a little over 10 feet long.

The MDR-XD100's are a decent set of cheapo headphones. They're not muddy on the low end like so many low-cost phones, and they have decent highs. Bass is on the weak side, so if you prefer exaggerated bass look somewhere else.

Comfort is another big deal, and these are quite nice on the ears. Essentially, these are decent, but unremarkable headphones. There are certainly worse sets out these for the same price. The audiophile or the bass-lover should probably look at a slightly higher price point, though.

Comments about Sony MDR-XD100 - Closed-Back Studio Monitor Headphones:

I use it on desktop PCs (when in libraries or at home), listening to CDs on my Sony CD player, My laptop, and occasionally, my MP3 player. I thought I could use something with good cable length and the 40mm bass drivers were a plus from the usual 30 or less. My old MDR-V150 heaphones were kind of broken and getting old so I thought that it was time to replace them.

I got these for reference headphones on a budget. They are great. Reduce background noise well, and have a clear sound. Not the best sound, mind you (not the best range) but for the price, you are not gonna do any better.

I use the headphones on a smart phone, MP3 player, laptop, desktop, and they sound the best on a home stereo like a 5.1 surround sound receiver. The cord is long enough so I can sit comfortably on the couch with them plugged into the receiver. I would prefer them to have a little more weight. It would give them a better feeling of heft and robustness, to me anyway. Overall they sound great, for the price. Music sounds rich and detailed, audiobooks sound clear and accurate. The included 1/4" adapter is a nice touch.

I needed a good family set for our PC. We have 3 children and these things need to be built well. This Sony pair fits the bill. We had an identical pair for years till it couldn't take the abuse any more. I bought a new pair and we are just as happy. I work in videography and I can definitely say they sound great too.

I use these headphones mostly for recording and mixing. The headphones produce a good qulity sound, however, they lack a quality feel and appearance. They almost feel flimsy, like a mass-produced product from China. The sound prouced is mostly of a high frequency which makes them less versatile, such as if one wanted to listen to full bodied music or movies. The cable is extended which could come in handy. Overall, they are alright for home studio use and even on stage performances.

Value for $$. Bad isolation, bought for my bad hearing father. He likes. Not bad bass, okay sound. For money not bad. You can get way worse for the same money. Also light on head, good. Not compact or foldable.

Comments about Sony MDR-XD100 - Closed-Back Studio Monitor Headphones:

I bought these primarily for my parents who have a hearing problem, to let them listen to music and watch DVDs without the others having to listen to loud soundtracks. They function perfectly. Also, the headphones come with an included 1/8" to 1/4" plug adapter, which makes it easy to connect to a receiver, amplifier etc. The ear units are a comfortable fit for long use. The cord is extra long, which helps too. My parents are happy, so am I.

I bought this for my teenage daughter for Christmas. She was tired of earbuds that fall out and wanted a nice pair of over the ear headphones. These work great for her.

I use these at work, and they sound great. They're kinda big compared to some other similarly-priced headphones, but also sound a lot better and have more range.

Plastic feels flimsy, but you just got to take care of them.
Great sound for a great price. Nice fit, not too tight.
If your looking for a cheap, basic circumaural headphones, these work great.
Definitely in the price range for the frugal buyer.

Comments about Sony MDR-XD100 - Closed-Back Studio Monitor Headphones:
