Comments about Lowel Ego Digital Imaging Fluorescent 2 Light Kit (120VAC):

These lights are marketed mostly for table top photography, but a lot of people will probably be better off with another unit such as an EZ Cube.

They are however great for basic video production. They give off a soft even light, are daylight balanced, and easy to use. Plus they don't give off much heat, and the bulbs will last years.

If you're shooting a lot of simple interviews, or shooting independent movies indoors, these lights are awesome for the price. Easy to use to get a lot of good, quick shots.

Two things not so great: These aren't Arri HMI Jokers or MR Moles here. They won't handle years of abuse from grip and electric crews. They are built okay, but not very robust. Also, they only give off the equivalent to about 210 watts total light in tungsten speak. Ideally, the bulbs would be double that amount, and with built in dimmers. But for most indoor work shot on modern video cameras, that's still very useful. I haven't had as much problem with the head as the other reviewer, but perhaps he's used them much more.

    Lowel Ego 2 light kit

    By Zygmund Zee

Comments about Lowel Ego Digital Imaging Fluorescent 2 Light Kit (120VAC):

After 5 years of using different home brewed lighting systems, I bought this Lowel kit for my jewelry photography. This has been the best investment I have made. A great value with the 2 light stands. In jewelry photography you need both lights and the stands help in light placement.

Problems Encountered: The supplied mounting brackets are too weak for the weight of the light heads. I had to buy 2 Bogen / Manfrotto 2905 - Swivel Umbrella Adapters, that are strong enough to support the light heads.

Previous Equivalent Items Owned: Various halogen and fluorescent lights that I home brewed to set up.

    Items I Recommend: Bogen / Manfrotto 2905 - Swivel Umbrella Adapter (Lite-Tite)
