Comments about Califone AX-14 Digital Audio Converter - 3.5mm to USB Port:
I work the media presentations for our local church. We use a high end computer and the phone jack busted keeping us from using any sound related media. If needed we had to hold a mic to the computer's speakers. I brought the computer in to be fixed and told it would be an almost [$]repair. No way the church could afford it. Their "geek" suggested we get this item (AX-14 digital audio converter). When I called B&H the customer service rep was great in helping me. Installation of the product was easy and the it worked fantastically! We paid [$]. Talk about a huge savings!! Thanks B&H!

Comments about Califone AX-14 Digital Audio Converter - 3.5mm to USB Port:
I bought this so i could record scratch narration for a project I'm editing on a MacBook Pro. I wasn't expecting it to be good sound quality, just decent enough so i could easily record placeholders wherever as a stand in for the final recording.
I returned the Califone Digital Audio Converter because the sound i was getting through it was completely unusable, even for the low bar i had. Maybe it just doesn't work with Macs? I can't imagine such a bad component being manufactured otherwise.

I bought this item for my son's PS3, so he could use it with his mono 3.5m headset. It made a very loud bussing sound. I even changed the PS3 External Audio devices setting, it recognized it, but still made that loud buzzing sound. I called the device support. the guys did not know if this device it would work with PS3, he said, he will research it and he will call me back. I never heard from him again. He did confrim that this device would not work for Mac. So I guess, I am stock with this device and I can only use it with a PC. :(:(

After buying a unidirectional microphone I found it wouldn't work on my Mac when plugged into the 3.5mm mic input jack. It needed a converter and this little item saved they day for me.

Comments about Califone AX-14 Digital Audio Converter - 3.5mm to USB Port:
This device works well for converting analog 3.5mm headset to USB so that it may be used with the PlayStation 3 (PS3).
An unfortunate flaw of the PS3 is that it does not allow USB headsets to play game audio -- only voice chat. This tiny device allows me to use the microphone of my existing headset for voice chat, while allowing me to plug the earphones of the same headset into my TV so that I may hear game sounds and voice chat.
The cord on this device is shorter than I expected at about 4 inches, but is just long enough to work without requiring an extension. I think the box could have a smaller form factor but I think that's just nit-picking.
Overall a great device.
