The PI9 Phone Patch II from Rolls is a compact unit ideal for applications in broadcasting, conferencing, phone training, or any other time a phone call needs to be recorded or sent over a PA system.
Simply connect the PI9 to a standard telephone connection, and it will use transformer isolation to direct the signal to a pair of RCA jacks or the 3.5mm mini jack. The transformer isolation keeps the phone line separate from the output signal, meaning the unit won't keep the phone line open unless the internal jumper is moved.
Note! The PI9 only works with standard RJ11, single-line phones. It does not work with VOIP systems or any digital phone systems.

I need an economical way to capture the audio side of business related webcasts. The Rolls phone patch gives me the ability to feed the phone conversation to my laptop for use with a webcast recording program. It is small and easy to use. It captures the raw audio, without the ability to adjust levels. More expensive devices provide audio adjustments, but they're beyond my budget.

Tried to use this on our office phone system and it didn't work at all. Don't know if it just doesn't work on a multi-line phone system but if so, it would have been nice to have that listed in the product description.

This device is easy to use, and works OK for telephone recording, but there is a volume loss that can make it difficult to conduct a phone conversation.
It does, however, depend on the sound quality to start off with, if you have a really good line then the impact is not as noticeable.

it works well, sounds great. i would MUCH rather get the next step up the $270 one so i could insert audio and also split the channels. but hey, maybe obama will lower the price for us.
