Fomapan 100 Classic is a panchromatically sensitized, black-and-white negative film designed for taking photographs.

Fomapan 100 Classic is a panchromatically sensitized, black-and-white negative film designed for taking photographs.
Meets high requirements for low granularity, high resolving power and contour sharpness and a wide range of halftones. FOMAPAN 100 Classic has a nominal speed rating of ISO 100/21 o, but Due to its wide exposure latitude the film gives good results even when overexposed by 1 EV (exposure value) (as ISO 50/18o) or underexposed by 2 EV (as ISO 400/27o) without any change in processing, i.e. without lengthening the development time or increasing the temperature of the developer used.
To make prints or enlargements, Extrabrom- and Fomaspeed-type enlarging papers are recommended; however, all sorts of black-and-white enlargement papers can be used.
Type 35mm black and white negative film

Purchased to shoot with my M2, after spotty luck with Ilford Pan F+. It is just a fantastic film. The range of available tones flatters even the most mundane subject matter. It has a very fine grain (kind of like TMax, but not so clinical). I bought some others to try with it, (Efke, Forte, Agfa) and they were all nice, but the Foma really jumped out at me. I have a new "regular".

I used the Fomapan 100 speed film for several selective focus projects, and found that it is incredibly sensitive. Although the majority of my images turned out alright at higher shutter speeds the blow out was very intense. So I wouldn't recomend it for anything over 350. Under however is perfectly fine. Also It says its a 36 exposure but allows 37 on each roll which can become annoying when trying to fill negative sleeves, and make contact sheets.

I use this for snapshots and landscapes. It works well for me. A little too grainy for my taste, but I imagine that could be taken advantage of in other uses. Overall, the benefit of cost outweighed any risk to not buying it. Lastly, it scans well on my Epson V500.

Should one wish for a vintage-appearing film image, this film may be just the ticket.
It's one of my films of choice to use with vintage Leica gear.

Love this film! Great tonal range, low grain and scans great. More red sensitive than other films I've used. It's like using a yellow filter without actually using one. The film also develops really nice using caffenol-c!

I love this film. I don't know what it is about it, but I'd choose this film over a lot of other brands. If you're developing with caffenol like I do, this film handles it VERY well. Came out with perfect pictures developing for 15 min and fixing for 5.

This is my favorite artistic B&W film. Comparable to the discontinued Kodak Tech Pan film. Sharp images with little gray tone, stark contrast images. I prefer to develop this a little hot to boost the contrast even more. Best option for creative images.

Comments about Fomapan Classic 100 135-36 Black and White Print (Negative) Film:

-I used this on a vacation out west to five different national parks
-It has 36 frames, so that's great
-The isolated feeling I get from looking at the prints is like I'm set back from the scene, not as if I were actually there. It's like there is a barrier between me and the image, and I feel that makes it more artistic in a way. This is artistic film, in my opinion, not film to capture the memories.
-I got a lot of scratching and a couple spots of white and also some specks of white on my negatives. I don't know if it was done during development, or the fact that this is a foreign film...but those imperfections are there.
-It wasn't as sharp as I was hoping, but I had them scanned at a fairly low DPI, so I think they could look great if you spend the extra money for higher resolution photos.

i love this film. i discovered it when i was on holiday in czech republic. it is extremely forgiving for over and under exposure, and will give good results even under poor shooting conditions. photos come out crisp and well defined. if you let it expire before shooting it it gives good effect of either huge grain, striations, or an odd sepia tone. but warning after expiration it does have a tendency to break when advancing.

I use this film for portrait and general use. I used to develop it in D76 1+1 but after a few yrs. switched to Xtol 1+1. The Xtol/Fomapan combo is the best film/developer mix I found after about 15yrs of BW photography. It prints well on diffuser or condenser enlarger and scans well too. It has beautiful silver rich tones, great highlights & shadows. I love the grain structure. This film is also quite easy on under/over exposure or development. One thing I always make sure is that all my solutions are same temp. Also, do not squeegee, just shake& let it airdry.

Comments about Fomapan Classic 100 135-36 Black and White Print (Negative) Film:

Purchased to shoot with my M2, after spotty luck with Ilford Pan F+. It is just a fantastic film. The range of available tones flatters even the most mundane subject matter. It has a very fine grain (kind of like TMax, but not so clinical). I bought some others to try with it, (Efke, Forte, Agfa) and they were all nice, but the Foma really jumped out at me. I have a new "regular".
