ART T8 - 8 Channel Transformer / Isolator in 1U Rack Mount with Balanced and Unbalanced Connectors
The T8 (Transformer Eight) from ART is a high quality, totally passive audio interface, housed in a rack mount chassis, that uses eight transformers to separate input and output signal grounds, thereby isolating any two systems and reducing hum and ground-loop noise.
The unit's audio transformers have flat and wide frequency response and handle high signal levels while maintaining an isolated balanced output. This gives the T8 a very clean and neutral sound with a wide variety of signal sources. The transformers are wound for 1:1 unity gain and are designed to be used with impedances from 600 Ω to 100k Ω.
Versatility
- Useful for making a "clean" interface between a computer based audio workstation and a speaker system, isolation on long cable runs in a fixed installation, isolation of a signal source from any recording equipment, or in many cases, just a safer connection between two audio systems.
Connectivity
- Provides XLR, 1/4" phone and RCA type phono connections on all inputs and outputs. This allows the unit to easily fit into virtually any audio system and be the clean patch point between all types of systems.
- The mounting ears on the housing are reversible allowing for either the XLRs or the 1/4" and RCA phono jacks to be on the front of the unit. This maximizes flexibility in cabling a system.
Construction
- Rugged construction and passive design allow the T8 to provide years of trouble free service in Live Sound, Permanent/Fixed Install, D.J. and virtually any PA application.

Originally I purchased this to remove hum from computers going in an out of my audio system but found I used it even more as a great connection adaptor!! 1/4in to XLR or RCA in either direction or splitting!!

I use this in a mobile dj rack mount case, and it does the trick. It took me some to figure out how to hook everything up properly, but once I did it worked great. Something I didn't realize was that if you use an equalizer or crossover, run your lines from the mixer through them first, and put the isolator between eq/x-over and the amp inputs.
