This product is great for extending the zoom of the Canon Powershot SX I5.This lens attaches easily with the converter ring and allows you to get a bit closer to objects and take better photos. I like this because I am a beginner in this digital photography field and this is like a training wheel camera for me. While expecting to upgrade to another Canon camera, this helps me to learn more about lenses and uses and lighting as it only works when the regular lens is fully extended. I am not that happy about this being the only lens for the camera I have now as I was hoping to experiment with different lenses. What I don't like is you have to extend the original lens in order for it to work. If you don't and you want to get a photo closer, you have to change out the lens for the original or take the photo and have a black circle around the finished photo. It isn't all bad if you are going to frame a photo anyways it may enhance the photo, other wise it can be frustrating to have to change the lens every time you want something that is closer and you could miss a good shot while changing them. All in all, I am happy. I do express that you check the lens twice for the attachment, make sure you hear the click and test it for stableness as mine fell off and I was lucky enough to catch it. I may have accidently hit the release button and I have to be sure I don't put my fingers in that area from now on when using the lens as it is that easy to change. Just be cautious as far as that goes, and hold the lens while shooting the photos or using the camera because if it does fall off you will most likely have to get a new one. The price is right , too. I got a quote from a local camera store, it was cheaper for me to order it myself from B&H [...]

I'm a little disappointed in the tele-lens.I had one for S1 and it did great. This S5 doesn't work thesame way as the S1 did with it. With the S1 I was able to pull in some fantastic distances on sheep in Denali. Wasn't able to pull in the monkeys in the rain forest and they were closer than the sheep. It doesn't seem to magnefy the same. I can't tell the difference between the digital 48x and the lens attached doesn't pull it in any farther. Unless there is something I'm doing wrong. I'm puzzled.

Comments about Canon TC-DC58B 1.5x Teleconverter Lens:

Got the lens about 2 weeks ago, and have used it a few times so far (lousy weather). Simple to attach (using the adapter), and comes with its own lens cap. As with any teleconverter I've used in the past, you need a little more light for pictures, but using it outside where you'd normally be using it anyway, light isn't that big of an issue. It couldn't be easier to use... attach and shoot. You have to remove it for zoomed back shots as you get vignetting otherwise, but shots at medium zoom or closer, that's not an issue. No distortion that my untrained eye can detect as I don't make posters using a 6MP camera.

Comments about Canon TC-DC58B 1.5x Teleconverter Lens:

I purchased the teleconverter lens to enhance the clarity of the wildlife shots taken on my Canon S3 IS. WOW! The resulting quality of my photos is superior to the S3s standard digital zoom feature. I only wish I'd purchased this sooner. The lens is quite solid and came with a handy storage bag.

I got this lens for a wedding, but the lens was not a useful as I had hoped for at long range. Seemed to be grainy for indoor use, but that may have been me. But it works pretty good for outdoors use.

However, it does take cool circle photos, when you're not zoomed in.

Great for close ups at the zoo and sporting events. Quality seems spot-on for Canon and has an over-all great appreance on the S5 and decent weight balance. Could be improved by having 72mm threads at the end for use with filters and better lens protection.
