Comments about Telex PH-8S - Single-Sided Camera Intercom Headset:
We've used these headsets with our Sony studio cameras for years... I'll start with the good: they're compact and easy to use, and they're relatively inexpensive. Sound quality is just fine, fit and comfort level is decent. There are no controls on the headset; to "turn off" the mic you simply rotate it to an upright position away from your mouth.
I do have a few issues with these headsets... They're a little flimsy, and not so durable. We have 4 studio cameras, and over the years we've replaced all of these headsets several times over. Here's the normal chain of events: first, the foam bits on the ear pad and mic deteriorate and fall off. Then eventually the mic stops working or the cable wears out and the signal becomes intermittent. Then we chuck them and get new ones.
Now, to be fair, we use our gear almost daily, and sometimes there is some accidental abuse by our staff and interns. Still, these headsets just weren't made to last forever. Due to the relatively fragile nature of these headsets, as well as the limited control, we are looking at getting a separate (hopefully wireless) headset system... But that's beside the point.
Bottom line, they're good inexpensive headsets that work fine and last for a little while.

We use these with our studio cameras and they are wonderful. We have used them for over four years and will not go back to the system before these. They are the perfect fit for any TV studio.
