Comments about K-Tek KSA - Adjustable Camera Shoe Mount Adapter with 1/4" Threading:
I needed an adapter to mount a video microphone onto my DSLR. I have a standard microphone holder or clamp with a 3/8" screw mount. But I couldn't find a way to mount the mic even with the 3/8" adapter in place until I found this one. Most "flash shoe" mounts have a 1/4" screw mount to hold camera accessories and/or hand-held recorders so I was excited to find this one.
It's made from durable plastic so there is no worry of tripping anything electrically. It holds my shotgun microphone rather steadily and even looks professional to boot. It's an inexpensive way to add your existing microphones to your DSLR and get exciting sound from your videos. I'm not thrilled with the tinny sounding built-in mono microphones you often get with your DSLRs. I greatly prefer my larger-diaphramed condenser mics that deliver studio quality ambient sound to my videos.

if you need to attach a regular microphone to a hot shoe like I do for live concert sound then this is the ticket. When capturing live concert sound shot gun mics just don't have the dynamic range or high SPL tolerance without getting blown out so we use an EV Cardinal mic on top of the camera to be able to stand the thunderous bass we experience in front of the stage
I just wish this was made out of metal & it should be for the $ price.
