The Sony F112 is a professional omni-directional microphone designed for Electronic New Gathering (ENG) application. The F112's frequency response and sensitivity are optimized for accurate reproduction of vocals, accentuating the range that enhances clarity while reducing residual noise. The omni-directional pattern results in minimal noise from wind, and even signal reproduction at the sides and direct sections of the capsule. This is particularly useful while vying for the best possible microphone placement in awkward, crowded environments. The extra long shaft allows plenty of room for radio and TV flags and the rugged enclosure is durable enough to withstand frequent use on location.

Comments about Sony F112 ENG Microphone:
I bought this for the very noisy (discotheque etc..) situtaions. I have not used this in a shoot situation as yet. But did test in different possible situations, sounds very good. I know I will not be using it very often but good to have it part of my microphone collection.

Comments about Sony F112 ENG Microphone:
I dind't actually need this mic - it came with a wireless ENG mic package. That said, I'm shocked at how good it is. I've used it in a test video with my wife and daughter just to see if I was given a dud or something more. Really solid quality. Looks appropriate for news style shooting, street interviews, game show host stylilng. B&H also included a cube to put station ID on the base of the mic which makes it look the part.

Comments about Sony F112 ENG Microphone:
I bought this mic to use attached to WRT-8P(250w wireless plugon) which we use as Clerk of Course mic for television live to air horse racing in Australia. It needed to be omni, it needed to sound at least as good as an SM 63, it needed to look ok , it needed to be cheap and it needed to be tough.
It ticks all those boxes with ease.
For a cheap omni reporter/host mic its great.

Comments about Sony F112 ENG Microphone:
I have been using this mic for recording while traveling. The audio is great. It is well built and travels well. It could use a protective cover for the terminal end to prevent physical damage and keep dirt out.

Comments about Sony F112 ENG Microphone:
I use this mic for doing on-field interviews as well as professional voice-over work. I love the long stem for beautiful handling. It's sleek looking and fits perfectly in my mic case. What may be a downside to it is the black paint chipping off if you do not protect it.
