Used this product at a wedding shoot. Couldn't afford to buy an external flash at this time. Found this product to be a very satisfactory substitution, not to mention a super affordable price. As the product explanation stated, it, indeed, does soften the harsh lighting created by the camera flash if used within 6 feet or less of subject. Found it very useful when used during "posed" shots of subject/subjects. When taking candid shots at various distances, it just took too much time mounting it and removing it as the shot distances required. However, if used as manufacturer suggests, I was very pleased with the results. Great product.

I have a Canon 40D and the LumiQuest was kind of clunky to mount on the camera's pop-up flash. The tab that is supposed to slip easily into the flash shoe is instead a bit of a struggle. The instructions aren't encouraging, saying if it doesn't mount correctly due to the manufacturer changing the shape of the camera from model to model, stick some velcro on the front of the camera. I don't want velcro on the camera for something I only use occasionally. That said, the LumiQuest did two things. It eliminated the hot spot, so there was no central overly bright area--a better photo. But it also made for far truer colors-something I hadn't expected. I photographed magazines lying on a tan bedsheet. Without the LumiQuest, the sheet was white, and not just in the hotspot created by the flash, but all over. I couldn't see any warming tone in the plastic diffuser of the LumiQuest, but colors were definitely better. The instructions do warn that the LumiQuest will require you to be five to six feet from the subject for best results.

Took pictures with and without diffuser, as soon as I got it, and it works great. Makes a big difference for such a small price.

I really want this thing to work. And it does. The problem is with the way it mounts to the camera. For Canon owners, you have to cut away the tabs that slide into your flash shoe. If you don't, the mount tab activates a micro-switch in the flash shoe and your flash won't work. Once you cut the tab out, it won't stay mounted in the shoe. Well, it will stay there but it is really flimsy. And, if you want to use it on two different cameras and, as is in my case, the micro-switches are on opposite sides, you'll have to cut away both tabs, then it won't stay on the camera at all. Don't waste you money if you are a Canon owner.

It does its job but doess't fit on my Sony A65 well. I actually had to cut multiple parts of it just to have it start working. Other than that it is always in my bag and I pull it out to use occasionally. Not a bad tool just not as good as I had hoped.

The concept is great but it does not fit securely on the Nikon D5100, so I returned it.The instructions suggest sticking a velcro patch to the camera to steady the diffuser, but I just couldn't get confortable with this solution.

It's so helpful having a product that tones down the harsh effects of direct flash lighting; for a few dollars images can be greatly improved by using this product.

First things first. The product has a tab that slides into your hot shoe. On the T2i on the right side rail is a small button that disables the popup flash. You have to trim the side of the tab very carefully so it does not activate this button. I found by the time i had trimmed enough material away for the flash to work the diffuser won't stay in the hot shoe.

Not a bad product when you don't have a flash. Easy to install and store.

Comments about LumiQuest Soft Screen Diffuser:
I bought this diffuser for me Canon T2i. The idea is great, but that's where it ends. The diffuser lays flat against the flash in such a way that it doesn't really allow the light to soften. If you alter it to arch about an inch away from the light, you'll get better results since the light will bounce a bit and soften up. Also, you can add a couple sheets of vellum to the diffuser to further soften the light output. It is very sheer. Also, aside from that, out doesn't stay on the camera and for this reason, the package comes with sticky velcro which you are expected to stick on to your camera. Personally, I'm not interested in sticking gunk to my camera. As far as I see it, you're beyer of making your own or buying an external flash which supports a proper soft screen. This isn't worth the price.

Comments about LumiQuest Soft Screen Diffuser:
Just a bit of softening, sometimes it is enough--much better than straight built in flash.
Spreads light enough that my big lens hood is now not a problem!
Better design than others--Gary Fogg? --which I returned, as were too brittle for on-camera use, and likely to break.
Stores flat, takes up little room when not in use.

Simple to attach. I just leave it on unless I need to use a larger flash. Folds up and stores flat, takes up no space in the bag. Quite possibly the best tiny investment you can make.

It was supposed to fit my Sony a580 ..., it didn't. At least not without a lot of modification. The part that supposedly slips into the hot shoe (remember, Sony has a proprietary hot shoe) didn't fit. I finally got it to work by cutting off the hot shoe tab and using pieces of the enclosed self stick Velcro. I must say, once it's attached, it works just a well as the Wang clip-on unit and, it is much easier to store.

Does help diffuse the flash a little. Don't bother trying to fit the rear tab in the hot shoe - I just tuck it in the slot created when I raise the camera flash and attach the front section to the front of my camera with velcro (included with the diffuser).

Love using my new soft screen diffuser. When I don't want to carry my Nikon flash unit, I can use my on camera flash and use this product to diffuse the light. A great asset.

I bought this diffuser to have on my second camera while shooting weddings. (I only have one strobe unit) This unit makes the light so much better from the on-camera flash. My on-camera flash was always set at 2 stops down before I bought this toy, now I can use the flash at full power and the diffuser takes care of the hard edges that you usually see with a naked flash. Bottom line: If you must use the on-camera flash, get one of these! They are cheap, light, easy and quick to install and fit in any gearbag

Comments about LumiQuest Soft Screen Diffuser:
Given the price of the product, I would say that diffuser does its job decently well. Granted, it won't provide softbox quality lighting, but hey, it's cheap. For the price, the product works well. It eliminates much of the flat, unappealing, harsh light from the pop-up flash.

Comments about LumiQuest Soft Screen Diffuser:
It doesn't work lighting miracles, and can be slightly awkward to use, but it makes a nearly useless pop-up flash somewhat manageable. We don't have much equipment and generally need to work with just the available light, which sometimes requires using the built-in flash. It's not a drastic difference, but the diffuser screen does cut down the glare and harsh shadows a little bit. And it's certainly more sturdy and better-looking than the one I made out of paper. At just a few dollars, definitely worth the investment for me.
(I did have to cut it a bit to fit my Canon EOS Rebel T2i, but the process was included in the instructions.)
