I am a second-unit director and was looking for something flashy to use at meetings and on set..briefcase were to boring and I found this jewel, while looking for new camera bags. If you are in the film industry you most likely use 1 or more PortaBrace bags for your gear. It is an industry standard.. and people recognize the signature Blue colored bag. But along with the STATUS it invokes..was its practicality. This bag was purchased also because of the sun shade it has built in. I am using Scopes on my MAcBook 15 inch to go with my BlackMagic Cinema camera (also purchased at B&H, )and it is perfect. What was a nice surprise was the fact it said it would handle a 17 inch laptop but in fact it holds my monster 17.5 inch Dell 3D laptop nicely...a bonus..and both laptops will fit at once, in the bag along with....t my 3 ring leather binders , a script or two,all my power supplies, phone, hub, directors viewfinder, I am happy.. took it to my first production meeting at Paramount Studio's and I got a few questions regarding it. The only downside was that the black special edition version was twice as much.....R

I have had rain protections from Portabrace for big Betacam and DVcam shoulder camcorders for years, it was great. Now I have received that marvel. It is very professionnal, nicely built, a lot of clever pockets, the shoulder strap is great, everything is well thought for the daily work of the PRO, portabrace is THE company who understands our needs, the products is so well to fit my Apple Laptop and all my small equipment, and more, it is good sturdy and smooth companion for my video and photo assistance, the hood is great for outdoor shooting monitoring, camera control and also for mobile studio work!

Comments about Porta Brace DC-3V Director's Case (Signature Blue):
I was hoping to love this bag but I felt let down by its heft and its overly technical design. What seemed on the page to be a supremely useful bag turned out in person to be cumbersome and, frankly, annoying. First off, with the shoulder strap attached it's very hard to unzip the zippers. Once inside you'll find a plethora of pockets but none of them very convenient. They are either too large and saggy or too small or oddly shaped. Although it's possible to cram a 17" laptop into one of the unpadded inner pockets (good luck getting it out of the pocket though), it seems like your simply supposed to lock it down with corner tabs which means locking and unlocking the plastic catches each time you want to put your computer inside or remove it. The large pocket on the front is gigantic but if you were to make use of all that space the velcro closure wouldn't keep the top shut. Pens and such would simply fall out.Ultimately I returned the bag [...] The bag was just too large, heavy and awkward to use and I knew, therefore, I wouldn't use it. I am going to buy a camera backpack that holds my 17" laptop. It will be much more useful since when my camera isn't with me the bag can hold scripts, lunch, etc...

The DC-3V Directors Case by Porta Brace is the best laptop bag that I have ever purchased. I am a Videographer that likes efficiency, durability, versatility and overall top quality for a great deal. This product has it all. Everything from its durability in materials used, all its pockets that easily allows quick access and efficient organization, and the versatility for not only the laptop, but anything that you need to store in the bag for any reason, there are plenty of pockets for all to be used. The handles and shoulder strap feature a super soft suede pad for comfortable carrying. Overall, this product has everything that I look for in a hearty product. Of course I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a sturdy laptop bag.
