Miroslav Philharmonik from IK Multimedia is an integrated "Orchestral Workstation" plug-in, combining the original legendary Miroslav Vitous Orchestral and Choir sample collection, with a dedicated plug-in instrument specifically tailored toward reproducing classical sounds and arrangements.

To achieve acoustic realism, the string, brass and woodwind sections were originally captured in the correct acoustic orchestral positions in one of the most famous symphony halls in the world, the Dvorák Symphony Hall in Prague. This means that there is no need for acoustic space simulation with panning, since calling up the elements of the orchestra will instantly place them in the correct positions.

The Miroslav Philharmonik plug-in is based on an enhanced version of the SampleTank workstation architecture, offering sixteen multi-timbral parts, with full control over the tempo and pitch of the sounds. Each of the multi-timbral parts can be loaded by selecting one of more than 1,300 orchestral instruments included in the software. To make instrument searches easier, all of the instruments can be found in neatly organized folders within the browser window.

Comments about IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik Sample Library:

This is an amazing product with a very flexible interface that allows the user to combine sounds and program mixes of sounds by velocity range to produce the sonic "color" you want. Think of it like a painter's pallete of orchestral and choral elements that can be used individually or combined in many ways to produce an aural painting.

I am using Miroslav Philharmonik with my audio workstation based on Logic Studio. MP takes the decent abilities of Logic Audio 8's sound array and expands it to a much broader range of solo and accompanyment instrumentation, and choral sounds that is also sonically much more rich.

Although I love the richness of the MP brass sounds, MP would be even more powerful if the brass sounds had a non-vabrato version that would be a better fit with western-European and American orchestration styles.

I originally was looking at Miroslav Philharmonik as a college graduation present for my daughter's close friend who is embarking on a career as a composer of sound tracks for film. B&H Photo's price was so tempting and the product so impressive that I also bought a copy for myself!
