The Hoya Pro 1 Digital Circular Polarizer takes advantage of Hoya's patented optical glass technology to create a hardened glass that is thinner than the normal optical glass. This allows the overall thickness of the filter to be reduced to avoid vignetting when used with ultra-wide angle lenses.
Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
Note! Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems); Pro 1 Digital filters are ultra thin but have a front thread

Comments about Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizing Pro 1 Multi-Coated Glass Filter:
I'm shooting a lot of old buildings lately and wanted to get better control of glare.
I like the quality of the filter. It rotates smoothly, although its slim design can make it a little hard for biggner fingers.
The biggest problem is that I have to remove the lens hood to rotate it. I'll have to look for a threaded lens hood.

I own over a dozen Hoya Pro 1 Digital Polarizers and Clear Protectors. I used Tiffen in the past many years but there is a HUGE difference in the quality with Hoya Pro 1 Digital. Go Hoya and you will Never Go Back!

Comments about Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizing Pro 1 Multi-Coated Glass Filter:
Although there is not much to a polarizer. Not a multitude of moving parts. So in it's simplicity it is perfect at it's job. My beach photos would have been a nightmare without it and it worker flawlessly.

Comments about Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizing Pro 1 Multi-Coated Glass Filter:
A CPL is almost a must have item for landscapes and this is one of the best, even better that it's one of the cheapest!
The only reason I gave this 4/5 as opposed to a full 5/5 is that I believe the 'Digital' specification of this filter is nothing but a marketing gimmick to command a higher price.
A great filter with nice robust threads and smooth operation of the rotating ring, I'd recommend the non digital version of this to save the money, but both are more than adequate.
