The PSC DV PROMIX 6 is a professional field audio mixer designed to fit the needs of DV Cam users and professional field audio engineers. The mixer's 6 input channels feature balanced XLR female inputs, switchable between microphone and line level signal. Each input provides a dedicated direct output and individually switchable +48v phantom power. Left, Right and Center position switches are located on every input channel, routing signals to separate destinations or for panoramic placement of audio via the stereo outputs.
The output section features 2 sets of balanced XLR male connectors that are also line level and microphone level switchable. Camera A and Camera B outputs feature L/R XLR connectors and enable 2 cameras to be fed simultaneously. Output peak limiting minimizes overloaded output signal, eliminating distortion and noisy recordings. Dual dedicated 1/8" mini tape return inputs allow accurate monitoring of recorded signals from video cameras, recording devices etc. 1/4" Phone and 1/8" mini monitor output provides headphone monitoring or an output to a consumer camera.

Comments about PSC DV PROMIX 6 - Portable 6 Channel Field Production and ENG Mixer:
I'm a legal videographer and use this unit mostly in controlled environments and it sounds excellent for my purposes.
The unit is shielded better than other units I've used over the years and gets almost no interference from other electrical devices, particularly Blackberrys, which are notorious for audio interference.
The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because of its lack of a master volume. This is generally not a problem, but with very soft-spoken people it would be nice to have a little bit more volume and I run the individual faders at 8 or 9 most of the time.
Overall an excellent unit. Highly recommend!

Comments about PSC DV PROMIX 6 - Portable 6 Channel Field Production and ENG Mixer:
If you have to feed 2 cameras audio, this mixer gets it done, if you need to provide phantom power to a mic, this mixer is the one. If you need 6 inputs, this mixer is the one. The pro 6 is quiet and has multiple setups for various mics, it is what you need if you have to feed a live truck and the camera audio. Not quite the alpha mix (PSC no longer makes)but add an NP-1 cup and you are in rarified air with this mixer.
Comments about PSC DV PROMIX 6 - Portable 6 Channel Field Production and ENG Mixer:
I rented one of these mixers from an Los Angeles area rental house. It worked great and was easy to use. The sound quality and features are amazing for the price. So when I decided to buy one, I came to B&H. I have now used my mixer for about 4 months. I still find it to be of great quality. The six inputs have been useful on several occasions. I highly recommend it!

Comments about PSC DV PROMIX 6 - Portable 6 Channel Field Production and ENG Mixer:
The 6-inputs are enough for just about anything you mightencounter. The unit is very easy to use and understand. The meter LEDs are very bright, even in sunlight. Anothergreat feature is having both 1/4 and mini stereo headphonejacks. Sound quality is excellent and there is plenty ofheadroom. The low-cut filters work perfectly for windysituations and noisy environments. The fader knobs are madeof rubber or a similar material and have a nice feel tothem. They are large enough to maneuver even with my hugefingers. Great quality, ease of use and moderate pricing isall I was looking for and I found it with the PSC Promix 6.

Problems Encountered: It is difficult to insert a straight 1/4 headphone pluginto the headphone jack when the mixer is enclosed in thefield bag. I wound up using a right angle adapter whichsolved the problem.

Comments about PSC DV PROMIX 6 - Portable 6 Channel Field Production and ENG Mixer:
This is a really nice mixer. It's super quiet, easy to use and it's priced right too. I like having the 2 extra channels when needed. This mixer is equipped with all the basic functions you need such as reference tone oscillator, slate mic, tape return monitoring, etc. The meters are nice and bright for outdoor use and can be dimmed down for indoor use. I also like the 6 direct outputs. I have used these direct outputs on several shoots. The mixer is set up for use with two cameras using 2 sets of XLR outputs. Overall its a good, basic mixer without a lot of extra frills. It works as well as my X4 mixer, costs less and has 2 extra inputs. I would recommend that you buy a larger field bag so you have room for your wireless.
Problems Encountered: The bag provided only has room for the mixer. You will need a bigger bag if you want to use your wireless.

Comments about PSC DV PROMIX 6 - Portable 6 Channel Field Production and ENG Mixer:
This mixer has some serious problems. I tested the DV ProMix 6 with a DVX100B, AT4073A shotgun mic and a couple of UWP-C1 Wireless Lavalier. The first thing I tested was the 440 HZ tone which is an A+ feature to have on a mixer, then after setting the audio levels of the DVX100b to match the audio output tone of the promix 6 I noticed that the tone levels of the pro mix 6 would increase after 20-30 sec. I then tested each of the inputs of the mixer with the AT4073A, with the high pass filter set at 20, the mixer past the test. Then I tested each channel with the high pass filter set to 80 and noticed there was some leakage of audio, when is say leakage I mean that I had a audio signal entering channel 1 and had the audio level of channel 1set to 0 and also at the same time had the head set level set to 0 and was hearing the input level of channel 1, I did the same test this time with the high pass filter set to 140, the leakage this time in my opinion is unacceptable, not to say that the leakage of the high pass filter at 80 was. I had the dvx100b recording all of the audio out of the mixer during the tests, when I played the tape back to my surprise, the leakage was not just in the headphone jack of the mixer but also on the output xlr. Now, with 1 input signal at a time going into any of the channels 1-6, once you raise the volume of the channel and the head set you cant tell that there is a problem, but if you have multiple input signal and you are only using 1 at a time and have the high pass filter set to 140 on the channels you are not using and the level set to 0 on the channel you are not using you will get distortion on the out put of the mixer. The distortion comes from all of the channels which are set to 0, audio entering the output of the mixer. Last but not least the slate mic is very distorted once the high pass filter is set to 140. On a scale of 1 to 10 this mixer gets a -5, its that bad.
Problems Encountered: audio leakage of channels, high pass filter at 140 very distorted, and slate mic distorted.
