I've used this tripod on every surface possible with inclines and declines–stable as far as I can tell. I use it primarily for LE's and performs beautifully.

Comments about Pro 340DX Tripod Legs (Silver):

The biggest benefit of this tripod is that it fits in a carry-on bag with (some) room to spare (without the head on it of course). It's quite sturdy given that it collapses so small.

The two big downsides that I can see are:

          1. No weight hook on the center column.

          2. No way to swap feet for metal points.

The center column does come apart, so it can get quite low without needing to buy anything else.

Comments about Pro 340DX Tripod Legs (Silver):

I have had these for about three years now and they still function as new. The perk of these is they are light weight if you so hiking it won't be too heavy. I recommend these to anyone that is not looking to drop 500+ on a tripod. I am planning on upgrading my legs soon, and I will keep these as my backup. I also plan on going with the slik brand again.

Comments about Pro 340DX Tripod Legs (Silver):

I shoot a Sony NEX 7 and needed something light to travel with it. I considered several other competing products, but this SLIK and did the trick quite nicely. Light and sturdy and well built. I love the Flip lock legs! A much better value than the competing Manfrotto, Befree in my opinion. I combined it with a Manfrotto 494 Ball head and SLIK carry case to create the perfect travel tripod for my little camera. I'll be taking it with me to Ireland on my next big photo trek.

Comments about Pro 340DX Tripod Legs (Silver):

For the price this tripod is lite and stiff. With the Manfrotto 494 ball head this makes for a good combination for a mid size digital camera (Canon S5IS). I have used a heavy 15yr Bogen tripod very heavy but rock solid way over kill for this digital camera & I have use a slightly lighter Kodak plastic tripod. This one was very lite but very wobblely even with the mid leg spreader. compared to this range of experience I am very happy with this purchase.

Nice tripod for a knock around travel tripod... Works well and the only thing that bothered me was I had to chimp to see the view finder... its not tall enough (I am 6'00")

You can spend a lot more.. but why? this works.. sure you can get much better tripods at 10X the price

I got these legs because I had a cheapy old tripod, then I upgraded to a D-700 with some nice nikkor lenses. No way that's resting on a [$] tripod! This seems to be the very best combination of price, portability (I'm not really a tripod guy so that's a big deal) and stability. Purchased with a Manfrotto Mini Ball Head

5 stars based on price and performance for what's its designed for: portability.

Got this for my primary travel tripod. Flip locks are fast, it's relatively sturdy (especially when you don't extend the last portion of the legs), and folds up very compactly. Easily straps to the outside of my smallish lowepro runner 200 and doesn't even extent beyond the top of the bag.

Is it rock solid? No. But a tripod of this size really can't be. Simply put, the quality/price ratio on this should put this toward the top of your consideration list for a travel/grab-and-go type tripod.

Combined with the Manfrotto mini (not micro) ballhead, it's a perfect combination.

I have lots of tripods including a Bogen 3021 pro, but this is the one I use unless I absolutely have to have the height or flexibility of the Bogen. Its *amazingly* stable for such a light little tripod and sets up quite easily. The only downside is the column. Its only one piece so you can't go that low unless you buy the extra little column - so you either carry two columns or limit your flexibility. And I find the column balky especially when trying to lower it - but it is quite stable when raised. Otherwise, you can't go wrong. I truly believe its the best tripod you'll find at the price. If you want to go cheap, this tripod's got fewer tradeoffs than the others.

Comments about Pro 340DX Tripod Legs (Silver):

Very pleased with this tripod. It is sturdy enough to hold my 50D w/ 24-105 L lens. It is not too heavy and the padding on the legs also make it easy and comfortable to carry along on the many hikes that I have been on. The legs can be adjusted into many different angles and the center column also comes apart so you can get lower to the ground if needed.

Lightweight and sturdy generally not used in the same review. I put a Bogen mini head on for a really fine combination.

This is the best tripod leg at this price range. No need to go for a carbon fiber one which has similar load capacity but could be heavier (what's the point for carbon fiber?) and more than double price...

This is a great tripod for packing in your airplane carry-on! The quick release legs, sliding column, eye-level height, variable spread legs, and foam leg protectors are all excellent features in a package that collapses to less than 16 inches!
