Comments about Monster Power HTS 5100 MKII Home Theatre Reference PowerCenter:

I bought this to replace a Belkin pure av. I have the previous model that I am very happy with so I thought a newer model would have at least the same features. If you want to rack mount the unit it does not come with rack ears, even though the description says it does. Monster claims this is an error in their manual. If you intend to use it with a remote trigger, it will blow out as soon as the trigger is introduced. The first one was replaced as I assumed it was defective. When I hooked up the replacement, I made sure there was no power on the trigger. I didn't even plug in the amp that would trigger the unit. As soon as the power center was plugged in it blew out. Monster is no help as they only put their name on the product, and no one there knows how it works. I know it's not my equipment because my system works flawlessly with the Monster 5000 and the Belkin Pure AV. I'm sure the unit will be fine as long as you don't intend to use the trigger. The only reason I wanted to replace the Belkin is because the trigger defaults to off if there is a power outage.

Use for TV and audio systems. Most notable effect is dramatic increase in the intensity of color in TV picture. Clarity of picture also improved. It was like I had purchased new and improved TV's. Sound through audio system, had a deep quiet background and ground loop hum was eliminated where present. A huge improvement for not much money.

NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT. DON'T TRUST THEIR WARRANTY.

I bought Monster Power Center (HTS 5100 MKII) two tears ago. I June 2012 it blew up everything connected to it (HD TV, Denon receiver, Sony BluRay Player and Verizon Fios Box) and the the power center also died. In my house everything connected to the wall power outlets was safe. So it was not a power surge in the main line. But the malfunction of the faulty surge protector damaged all equipments connected to it. As Monster requested, I got all damaged equipments checked by certified technicians and submitted the reports with the claim forms. All reports indicated that the damage was due to a power surge. Monster denied my claim without giving any proper reason. The reason they gave me was "As the connected equipment warranty is conditioned on the PowerCenter failing from 'a Product Defect that causes Connected Equipment Damage despite Adequate Use', we have determined that this claim is not valid."

The reason they gave was completely incorrect. The total damage is almost worth $5200. I paid close to $400 for testing and reports from technicians and shipping the equipments to them. Only the surge protector and the equipments connected to it were damaged in the whole house. Which proved that the reason they gave is a complete lie. Now I am exploring legel options against them. It will cost me more. But I don't want to give up.

NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT. DON'T TRUST THEIR WARRANTY.

Comments about Monster Power HTS 5100 MKII Home Theatre Reference PowerCenter:

I have had this for a month and love it so far. I have it hooked to my high end stereo, plasma TV and DVD player/burner and it does in fact make a notable difference in sound and picture quality. It also lets you have control of which outlets are always on, switched and/or switched delayed instead of having a dedicated switched outlet like my old unit.

I love the LED voltage meter that tells me the incoming voltage and current (amps) that is going though it (takes .4 amps when idle).

I'm glad now that I stepped up from my old HTS3500-MKII with the analog meter, 3 stage filtering and dedicated switched outlet.
